The Capri is a favorite weekend getaway for my husband and me. It has no bells and wistles and is very dated. If you are looking for new, 5 star lodging, don't go there. What we love about this place is sitting out on the balcony getting lost in the sound of the waves. Every now and again we go into the room to get a drink, then back out onto the balcony. If you look down from your balcony, you see the sandy beach.

We have stayed in the regular dumpy ocean front rooms, and also the huge ocean front room that has a kitchen and 2 king beds. The suitcases go on the 2nd bed, and we sleep closest to the ocean with the sliding glass door open so we can hear the waves all night and wake up to them in the morning.

These rooms are about $250 per night, good for a birthday or much needed escape from the office. The rooms at the nice hotel next door are about $650 per night. Again, we are not going there for luxury, we wait until we have a real vacation in the Caribbean to splurge on luxury.

There are some fun restaurants in walking distance. The Mexican restaurant and the rooftop restaurant in the hotel across the street from the Mexican restaurant are great. Then we may drive into downtown for dinner. It's the only way we can afford to get away to the ocean for a weekend.

I was very disapointed with this hotel, the room was nothing like the pictures on the web site, we rented the two bedroom ocean view suite.

The first hour we were there I was walking down the stairs and the hand rail fell off of the wall, one of the hotel staff saw it happen and did and said nothing. The beds in the room were horrible it felt like sleeping on a really cheap box spring with no matttess, I woke up in the morning with a really bad headache, coming to find out the bed was tilted and that's why all the blood rushed to my head so the next night I sleep with my head at the foot of the bed. The dresser drawers wouldn't even close and hung crooked. And the room was not clean lots of dirt and dust.

And you would think with a two bedroom suite that they would think at least four people would be in that room - I guess thats why there was only two towels..

Suite says ocean view but does not say you get to see the ocean over the top of the roof of the rooms below where seaguls hang out and poop all over the roof.

And the balcony only had one chair for four people? what's up with that.

The best part of the trip was it being right on the beach and having them provide chairs and unbrella's to use on the sand.

And the other thing they did not tell us until it was to late was that they only have parking for about 30 cars, so if you don't get a space you have to park in a non secure parking lot of theirs a block away in the back of some buildings and walk back to your room. Was not happy about leaving my car where we could not see it or hear the alarm if someone broke in.

I do not plan to stay there again. I felt it was false advertising by what I saw in the pictures on their website. (We were coming to check this place out for a wedding) thank goodness we checked it out ahead of time.

Stayed for 3 days in August 2011. Location was perfect - right on the beach. Hotel in "ok" shape. You pay for the location, but the room conditions vary. Suggest you ask for a different room if the one you get is not acceptable. The manager, cleaning staff were great. The beach service staff was EXCELLENT and very accomodating. Front desk receptionist was ok. I would stay again as long as the room was ok.

The only good thing about this hotel is that it is on the beach and the room prices are reasonable for the area. The hotel is also centrally located and a short walk away from downtown Laguna Beach. From the moment I saw the place I regretted having chosen it. It is not very nice from the outside. They do have parking at no additional cost which is nice. The staff is less than friendly and no one even offers to take your bags to the room. They claim the rooms are remodeled well they got ripped off because they did an awful job. The beach that the hotel sits on is nice but don't expect to get help with chairs or umbrellas until they decide to send someone out there. When the attendant came out he was helpful but his uniform was dirty. No excuse you are working with the public wear clean shorts. I requested a late check out which I did receive, an additional hour, but then was locked out. When I went to the front desk, no sorry nothing, just here you go.
Anyone going to this area pay the extra money and stay at a nice place.
