The inn is a very plain place, but it is in a very accessible location. Within a few blocks is multiple cafes, restaurants and fastfood joints. It is located on the beach, and has a path directly to the ocean. They also have a small pool, parking, wireless internet, a computer, and small lounge area in the lobby. The breakfast offered is literally pastries, apples and coffee, so I would recommend venturing out and eating at one of the cafes.
The owners were very kind. The only thing to note is their office hours, as they are not available during the nights. So, if your flight comes in late, make sure you tell them because otherwise there will be no one there to let you into your room! If you do come in late, as was my situation, they just stuck the room key under the door mat and I paid/ officially checked in, in the morning.
The rooms are very plain, but it's clean. There are only the bare necessities in the room. The walls are very thin, and it's easy to hear the neighbours next door. This inn is nothing fancy, but personally, I went to Laguna Beach to explore, not to spend hours in the room! I paid US$125 per night, which is significantly cheaper than the hotels in the same area. But because it is cheaper, it attracts a younger, not as 'upper class' crowd.
As I said, the location was great. Right outside the inn is a transit stop (free during summer months), and buses come by approx. every 10 minutes. The inn is 10 minutes from the main beach (by car / transit) where most of the excitement is. Because of all the lights and traffic, driving isn't much faster than walking. It takes about 20 minutes (no stopping) to walk down the Pacific Coast Highway to the main beach.
I would recommend most people to this inn, but with the general warning that it is very basic, so have low expectations. It's not a resort, so get out and about and enjoy the wonderful weather, people, shopping, food, and beach!!!
