“Pleasant stay, tasty room service.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

I found the Lafayette at the last minute as I was looking for a place to stay in the East Bay. Very cute property just a hop away from Oakland by car. I booked at their website and requested late check out in the notes. I arrived in the evening and was greeted by the friendly and professional front desk staff who noted my request and obliged. They gave me a quick run down of the facilities and sent me on my way. It was one of the quickest check ins I've experienced.

I had a premium King size room which was located on the second level off of a pretty wishing well courtyard. The room was clean and I was happy to find a comfortable bathtub. The minibar was sparse but I'm not much of a minibar user so it didn't matter. Though minifridge is big enough to stash one or two of your own beverages if need be.

Not feeling any desire to go out, we ordered the roast chicken room service at about 8:45pm. The food arrived quickly, delivered by a very attentive attendant who thankfully noted that gratuity was included. It was delicious and exceeded our expectations.

We had a nice cozy night's sleep. The bed was comfortable and the room quiet. Not much to complain about during our stay. It was a bummer having to pay for parking but the area doesn't offer much in terms of nearby overnight street parking. Regardless, I'd definitely look into staying at the Lafayette again the next time I'm looking for a clean, low-key hotel, away from the busier parts of Oakland and Berkeley.

“Nice hotel - but really just OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

We stayed here for a business trip. The hotel is very conveniently located to highways, but the drawback is that its location just off the highway is uninspiring. Rooms are very large, very clean, but the traditional decor is a little dated. Again, not bad, just a little tired. Bed was soft, comfortable and wonderful, with down comforters and down pillow. But - NO safe in the room - for us that is a big drawback. The amenities, including the spa and pool did look lovely, but we were not staying long enough or have time to enjoy any of it. Big plus - service was kind, courteous and efficient.
Again - this hotel is good + , above average, but not great.

“Nice hotel in good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

Right off of 24, the hotel is convenient to a lot of East Bay cities and highways. We ended up with a great deal on SniqueAway for a last minute weekend stay in a King Fireplace room.

Check in was easy, front desk was fairly friendly but neglected some basic information like their parking policy and cost and the complimentary coffee in the lobby in the mornings. When we got to our fireplace room, it smelled like someone had recently burned a wood fire and didn't air anything out; it was pretty stuffy and the smell was acrid. We immediately called the front desk and they quickly moved us to a King deluxe without fireplace.

The deluxe room is very large, the bed is comfortable, and the bathroom is a good size with a tub/shower combo. Hotel was really quiet, except our really heavy footed neighbor upstairs who kept walking back and forth and having to hear that for a couple of hours. Luckily it was early! The only room negatives I'd give are that some things need upgrading, for example, the carpeting and the upholstery on the chair and sofa, all of which were very visibly stained. Also, maid service could use some attention to detail, as we found hair in the bathtub, yuck. We did love trying the Keurig coffee machine and appreciated the ample lamps in such a big room. Free wifi would have been very appreciated, but they charge $10 for a 24 hour period.

We ate dinner in the Bistro Saturday night - it was PACKED and really, really noisy, not conducive to conversation at all. The server was super-busy and we had to flag her down several times, but she was friendly and thorough with whatever we requested. Food was good, nothing spectacular, but competent. We had breakfast in the Duck Club restaurant and the service was stellar and the food was great. We couldn't stay for the Sunday brunch, which looks to be a great deal for the price, but the regular breakfast menu had good choices and everything was cooked perfectly to order.

The hotel is right by the highway but we didn't find highway noise to be an issue at all. All in all, great place for a nice local getaway.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the highway.

“Exceptional Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

The Lafayette Park Hotel rolls out a red-carpet experience in the quaint, country type setting of the East Bay. Natives of the Bay Area, our family makes it a point to at the LPH whenever we visit. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff is extremely professional and friendly. The amenities are great, especially the pool area and fitness center. And it's located near everything - including downtown Lafayette that must be explored on foot with its many shops, stores and restaurants.

The LPH is a must stay when visiting the East Bay.

“Now this IS a Hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

Both surprised and delighted to win this hotel on Priceline as I could not have afforded it otherwise! Professionally and courteously checked in by Roberta who allocated us a delightful room on the 3rd floor convenient to the spa and pool. The heated outdoor pool is open until mid night and excellent food is served in the bistro until 11pm. Really don't understand the previous reviewer as self parking is available for free!
We have stayed in hotels world wide and this is as good as it gets. It really was a perfect stay at a wonderful hotel.
