“BEST EXPERIENCE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

Recently I hosted a celebration at the Lodge and stayed there for 2 nts.The staff, from first point of contact in the driveway, and throughout the hotel are extremely guest-centric. All those on staff are attractive, well groomed and exceptionally well trained, which is a pleasure to find these days. The Spa is superb and has all of the services one would require.
The Food and Beverage operation, from breakfast and lunch in the Grill to a dinner for 60 persons in a private room were top notch and all of my guest were highly complimentary about the quality of the food and the service.
My suite was top quality with a gorgeous view of the golf course and the ocean, and all of the amenities you could think of were in the suite. I highly recommend this luxury experience.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms facing the Pacific Ocean and with a fireplace

“A beautiful california craftsman style lodge with attentitive and friendly staff and service In a gorgeous setting.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012 via mobile

We have stayed there twice in the last couple of months, and came back because it was so great the first time. Whether you stay in the regular signature rooms or the palisades rooms with the firePlaces, every room I have seen is very pretty. The beds are comfortable, and the bathrooms are large and have beautiful wallpaper from the craftsman period. Even the beds are Stickley style. There is a wonderful pine/fireplace burning fragrance throughout the hotel that sets the mood before even getting to your room. The lobby is warm and inviting. The pool area has outstanding views of the ocean beyond the famous golf course. The cabanas are first come first serve with no extra fees and I have never seen the pool area crowded. The staff are all extremely accommodating and friendly. The only drawback is the room service, which although the service is wonderful the food is terrible. The Grille restaurant is child friendly with good chicken strips but the adult fare is overly fussy and does not taste as food as it sounds on the menu, but it is a good option for families. The bar area is stunning and the drinks and appetizers are great. Overall the whole experience was a treat. We will definitely come back.

“California at its Best!”

Torrey Pines Lodge does not disappoint. It's definitely a five star hotel in a fantastic setting. Everything was perfect. We don't play golf, but the golf course is beautiful with an ocean view. We played croquet on the most perfect course I have ever experienced. What a fun time. The pool and hot tub are outstanding. The restaurants are fantastic. Every employee smiles and is very helpful. We'd go again in a heart beat. We spent an entire day relaxing on site. What a way to spend Christmas vacation. We hiked to the nearby beach and enjoyed walking several miles along the ocean.

San Diego and Balboa Park are a short drive away as well as the harbor and old San Diego. I'd like to live there.

Room Tip: Be sure and ask for a room with an ocean view.

“Fantastic location and very good service with a slight hiccup”

If you haven't been to la jolla, go. We have been 3 times and have traveled the entire coastline of California several times. La jolla is gorgeous with great restaurants and to die for views. Only big sur and Carmel are close.

The lodge is a very nice hotel with surprisingly reasonable prices for a 5 star hotel, at least off season. The service is top notch and the golf course is the bomb.

The only complaint I have is that the hotel was fairly empty as it was just days before the big Farmers PGA tourney. Despite that, I called ahead and asked for a fridge for my wife because she had meds that must be kept cold. They forgot. I asked for a golf course view since the hotel was sparsely populated. Didn't get it.

Mini bar fridge was broken and there was no way to buy a soft drink or get ice without calling room service. They did bring a fridge quickly upon request and the rest of our stay was excellent.

“Sanity saver!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 January 2012

We stayed in the lodge while a family member was having heart surgery at Scripps Memorial Hospital. Absolute sanity saver! The lodge is within walking distance of the hospital. The bartender and the martinis were wonderful!! The servers at the restaurants bent over backwards to feed us whatever we desired (on the menu or not)! We were continually treated with kid gloves which felt so good under the circumstances. I highly recommend the Lodge at Torrey Pines!!!
