My boyfriend and I stayed for one night on 12/10/11. Had never stayed in La Jolla Cove before and found La Jolla Inn on the internet . .. liked the pictures and amenities so decided to give it a try. When I made the reservations, I was told that we were getting a king sized room with an oceanview and that we would be able to have an early check in. When we arrived about 2:00, not only were we told that our room wasn't ready, but that we were getting a street level, queen sized room and that parking was 2 blocks away in an underground garage. We also noticed a terrible stench in the lobby, which we thought smelled like "wet dog". It was disgusting. We opened the door to the room (Room 8) and found it to be very tiny, heater didn't work and bed was old and way too soft. Carpet was filthy with what looked to be pet stains all over the carpet, as well as the room smelling like "wet dog" as well. It was very small and the only decent part was the shower and tub. No vanity area to put your toiletries on either. It was chilly in the room and the heater didn't work. Walls were very thin and we we could hear our neighbors above us late at night and sounded like someone was moving furniture, lots of banging around. My boyfriend said it sounded like they were F&%#@*^G in the shower. The noise on the street is very loud as well, as the very nice hotel next door had loud music and dj playing late and the bass sound thumping through the walls. Didn't opt for the free continental breakfast, as we were anxious to get the hell out of there and checked out about 8:30 am. Overall, very disappointed for the price. I would have stayed at the Best Western of the Sea, but they were booked that night. We would never stay here again, nor recommend it to anyone.
