This is my 3rd time staying at the Empress hotel and my 3rd time being completely satisfied with my stay. All of the staff (i.e. Jason, Ben & Brandon & the young ladies) were thoroughly the best! More helpful and willing to assist than ever expected. Ben is the Best! Each time he (Ben) makes sure this MS girl finds her way around safely. The breakfast crew and cleaning staff were eager to make sure I had what i needed. I asked for a banana for breakfast one morning (there were none); the next morning there were bananas!!! I would NOT change a thing...I'm so looking forward to my next trip to California..and the Empress is where I'll be staying!

I've stayed at this hotel several times for business. The rooms are always clean and the staff courteous. It is a small property and a little dated in some ways, but I find it very quaint and comfortable. It is very close to the beach, and I can jog down to visit the seals every morning. The exercise room is pretty worthless, but I don't need it since the weather is so awesome and the beach is so close. The breakfast is a light continential, but it is very convenient to lots of restaurants to get whatever you like. I like the table and chairs set up for eating in the room and the couch for work and TV at night. The room was a good size for the price, and the bed was very comfortable. I liked it the first time I stayed, and I will continue to stay here when doing business in La Jolla.

Just stayed the one night and I regret not staying longer. I haven't always had the best experience staying in "the village" but I think I've discovered my new "go to" hotel. It is an older property, but well appointed, my room was very nice, good size, extremely clean. Terrific bed, linens, and bathroom accouterments. Quiet, comfortable, and very good staff. I had one call to the front desk and they responded instantly. Book without hesitation. I would also check out the Manhattan Restaurant which is located on the ground floor of the hotel. While I was unable to dine there, the smell drifting into the hotel lobby was intoxicating. Speaking of intoxicating, the bar looked very inviting in the evening. A quiet, sophisticated crowd. This is not a hotel restaurant, much more of a restaurant in a hotel. I arrived around 6 PM and was able to park on the street, but the hotel is directly across the street from a large parking garage. I will stay again.

Everyone at the hotel was very pleasant and helpful! The room was good in space (would have liked a bit bigger) but it was a great experience overall. Totally will consider staying here again.
