“Beautiful setting, dated facilities”

The Hilton Torrey Pines is a legendary setting. I attended a conference at the hotel immediately before the USGA Farmers Insurance Golf Tourney. It was fun to see the early round of practice on the course.

The hotel itself is a dated. They have tried to make improvements on the surface, but at the heart of the hotel is a building that was built for a different time. The hallways seem to have very low ceilings and a strange odor, not a good start. The rooms have been redecorated, but still seems to be short of electrical outlets and the bathrooms are the original fixtures. My expectations were higher.

Service at the hotel was generally very good.

Be prepared for limited choices in dining if you are at the hotel without a car. I arrived at the hotel after 9 p.m. and the “bar menu” was disappointing and the food was bland. The Sunday morning breakfast buffet was better than most and the service was good.

“Resort hotel with lots to offer”

The Hilton Torrey Pines is on the Torrey Pines golf course and is a popular stay for the PGA folks when the Farmers Golf Tournament is going on. It is also a very capable convention site with lots of rooms and a very efficient event staff. The restaurant and bar a bit expensive but convenient and friendly. Ask for a golf course view, the pool view is nice but the golf course is just plain relaxing to look at. The staff is also happy to make you a tee time if you would like to do more than just look.

Room Tip: Ask for Golf course view.

We picked the Hilton La Jolla Torrey Pines because of the location, however the hotel itself was excellent, with friendly and helpful staff. The room was perfect with good quality beds. Great for pets because there is a lot of green space and adjacent to hiking trails in the Torrey Pines State Reserve. You are also close to the action in La Jolla and Coronado Island is not a long drive.

“Excellent! stay here for Farmers PGA Golf Tourney”

Rooms overlook the South Course 18th fairway. Excellent views of Torrey Pines and Ocean. Very nice hotel. Pay for the upgrade to the end room suites for large patio with outside tables and umbrella for wonderful views of tourney from your private patio. We moved during our stay and both rooms were fantastic. Golfer's paradise.

“beautiful location disappointing hotel”

La Jolla is one of the most beautiful spots in California and the Torrey Pines area is breathtaking. Tbe Hilton at Torrey Pines has beautiful grounds and stunning views from the lobby and pool deck. The restaurant is nothing spectacular and there is no view from the dinning room. The decor doesn't even make you think “ocean" or Southern California. The rooms are a nice size and the beds are very comfortable. I expected a little bit more of a luxury feel for this location. The Lodge at Torrey Pines next door is where we ate and spent most of our time. It is a definite luxury resort and worth the high room rate. You get what you pay for at the Hilton.
