“Disappointing”

Not at all what it is marketed to be. It is meant to be peaceful and zen like - in fact it is on a busy main street with music from the opposite hotel blaring from 7 to 10 each evening ( to be fair after we complained they did give us 50% reduction for 1 night - we were staying 3!!). The hotel does not have a restaurant or a pool and there are no tea/coffee facilities in the room. We had a junior suite and there was no bath only a shower. The room was very large but dark and not especially welcoming.
The breakfast room was low ceilinged and internal with no natural light and was as a result opressive. Breakfast was ok but nothing to write home about.

“Nice Accommodations, But Facility Needs Help”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Hotel Parisi couldn't have a better location--situated in lovely downtown La Jolla village shops and restaurants are all in walking distance. My husband and I enjoy a bit of extra space and cooking facilities, so we stayed five nights at Hotel Parisi's long-term stay apartment, across the street from the hotel. The apartment was smartly furnished and completely comfortable. All the hotel staff were very helpful and kind, but there are a few things that would make the hotel the first class facility it claims to be. In #32 apartment there is a balcony, but it's over the parking lot and there is a lot of noise--additionally, there was noise from the apartment next to us. It was possible to clearly hear conversations next door.
One of the services my husband and I appreciate when traveling are up-to-date fitness facilities. I expected we would find those at Hotel Parisi; however, we were very disappointed in the shabby condition of the machines in the workout room, some of which were nearly inoperable. Another big complaint was that though the television is direct tv we were informed that there was no pay for view--and there were no movie stations--and the hotel had no movies to lend either.
On the plus side, the hotel staff did try to help--they suggested Red Box locations. The complimentary breakfast was very good, but it would have been nice to have a bit of variety, change up the selections every few days or so.
Hotel Parisi has a lot going to it--location, a wonderful staff--it truly is a luxury property, but at the prices charged one doesn't expect service issues that could easily be rectified.

Room Tip: Avoid #32 apartment--too much noise from street and thin walls admit noise from next door.

“Hotel Parisi is the ultimate in comfort!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

We stayed a Friday night and found the ambiance, the service, the location, and the comfort absolutely tops. The lobby is lovely and spacious and calming; the reception is delightful. Our room in the "Apart" was home away from home, with a beautifully outfitted kitchen (Dansk everywhere!) The living area was set up with a desk, chairs, and sofa: comfortable, new, and stylish. The bedroom was spacious, and best of all, the king-sized bed was firm with lovely linens. The bathroom was elegant with a large luxurious shower and all the niceties one could want. The area around the hotel is full of upscale restaurants and shopping, yet still only a very short walk to the water. Because we did not have the opportunity to sample breakfast, sadly, I cannot comment except that the dining room looked sparkling and spacious.

“Wonderful boutique hotel”

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and we absolutely loved it. The hotel has a calm feeling from the minute you walk in. The lobby has a gas log fireplace that is on most of the day in the winter months, which gives the lobby a warm glow. There is a fountain in the lobby that drips water slowly, which gave us the calm feeling we needed after arriving from our first visit to Vegas. Vegas was extremely hectic and fast-paced from all the sight-seeing, and when we walked into the Hotel Parisi, we said "Ahh..." this is what we need now. We booked a junior suite, and we were very pleased with our room. The room is large and spacious, with lots of room to walk around and not bump into anything, which commonly happens in standard hotels. We had a partial view of the ocean, and we delighted each morning to see the beautiful ocean and palm trees across the street. The room has two full walls of ceiling to floor windows, which gives wonderful brightness to the room. The room has a set of sliding glass doors, which leads out to a petite balcony overlooking the street and shops. The room is nicely decorated with calm colors and high-end lighting. Every piece of furniture in the room was topped with granite...from the TV console, to the built in night stands, desk, and dresser. The closet was ample in size and had plenty of hangers. It was equipped with iron and ironing board and an in-room safe. The room also came with a mini-fridge that was stocked with several different kinds of soda, wine and beer, and two wine glasses. The prices for the beverages seemed very reasonable compared to other hotels. Upon arriving at the hotel, a plate of several kinds of fruit was delivered to the room, which was a nice touch. The bathroom was large and spacious, and very nicely decorated as well. There is a soaking tub and separate shower. Bath salts were provided as well as shower gel, body lotion, conditioner, and shampoo. These were not the little bottles you normally get in hotels, they were bottles permanently attached to the bathroom walls and you pumped out what you needed. His and her bathrobes were available in the bathrooms as well. The hotel has an amazing free breakfast buffet each morning. The items were all fresh and extremely tasty. Items included: egg casserole, hard-boiled eggs, cappuccino machine, oatmeal with cut up fruit and nuts, several high-end breakfast meats, specialty cheeses such as Brie, fresh fruit such as melons, fresh muffins and bagels and an array of sweet breads and croissants, noodle pudding (kugel), bowls of several kinds of seeds such as pumpkin and sunflower, and other items. The breakfast is offered 7 days a week and we were impressed with the selections and no cost. The hotel does not have an in-house restaurant, but you really don't need one since there are tons of eating establishments around the area within walking distance. The entire hotel staff was superb. Customer service was outstanding, and anything we needed or requested was delivered to our room within 2 minutes or less. All the staff was friendly and accommodating. There is a business center located right off of the main lobby area. The hotel does not have a pool, but we were there in the winter so we weren't looking for one anyway. The only downside to the rooms with the partial ocean view is that you can hear the delivery trucks very early in the morning, since the rooms are on the side of the shops. We will be back again and again to this hotel. We have fallen in love with La Jolla and this hotel. There is a wonderful Italian restaurant a block down on Prospect Street from the hotel. You must try the lasagna. The pasta with this dish is homemade pasta and you can really taste the difference. It was the best lasagna I have ever had. It is to the left of hotel on Prospect St.
