“Overpriced and Dismal.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 November 2011

Arrived as evening was drawing in, and only staying one night we decided to take the room that did not have a lake view. We thought that it was expensive enough at $98 on the off season rate. Not only did the room not have a lake view it didn't have any view. The small windows were set high up in the wall at least six feet above floor height.

The room although clean was very oldfashioned with dismal decoration and old dark furniture. Although the bed was comfortable from 5.30am onwards we were continually woken up by people taking showers.

We had been told that there was no breakfast included but coffee was available in reception in the morning. In the morning other guests were seen to be walking up to the reception door and walking away. We found that reception did not open until 9am and by then most people had left.

Maybe as one other reviewer stated we should have paid the extra $10 for a lake view room, but at nearly $100 for what we were told by staff as "off season" prices we did at least expect a decent room that you could see out off.

We always try to emphasize the good points in any review and always keep in mind the price and area (ie remoteness, country etc) but we really couldn't find anything good to remark upon in this motel. It really is trading on it's position by the lake and was without doubt by far the worst place that we stayed in during our month of travelling through Califonia and Nevada.

“Tired old place”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 November 2011

As another reviewer has stated, this is a difficult place to review and assign a rating. So, first the positive: the owners and staff are friendly and accommodating. They have all the local tips to share for sightseeing and fishing, and even will freeze and hold your fish for you while you are a guest there. The views of the lake are fantastic and this lodge definitely has a prime lake location. Now the negative: the rooms or suites are very dated and poorly furnished and in severe need of deep cleaning. The windows and sliding glass doors do not even lock, at least in the suite we had. The information notebook with flyers about local attractions, restaurants, shops etc was so dated as to be laughable. For example, it contained ski resort prices from 2005, restaurant menus offering coupons that expired in 2008, and similar items. The prices are too high for what you get; go elsewhere!

Room Tip: Go elsewhere!

“Great fireplace and view”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

we stayed for two nights at Boulder lodge and enjoyed it very much. Do no expect the Ritz - it is a rustic lodge. We stayed in one of the fireplace suits with view of June Lake. Clean and comfortable room. The fireplace was GREAT.

“Beautiful location at a cost, read full review to find a cheaper way of booking.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011 via mobile

Was not an easy one to rate.
Didn't book and it was getting late so stopped at this timber clad two storey 'lodge' that's looking a little dated. Location on the edge of the lake is fantastic, but you pay an extra $10 a night to face it, in fact overall the price is on the top heavy side at $98 a night
Catering for fisherman with gutting area, freezing service and BBQ's it's ideal, the dated decor can be forgiven but compared to some places we've stayed at it's living off it's location and not delivering in other areas.
A note for fisherman or bargain hunters, go to Ernies bait and tackle shop- two minutes along the road, before booking in, they have leaflets for two nights acc at boulder lodge ( won't be a lake view) two evening meals at a local ( good) restaurant and two days use of a boat for only $179
Love the area, would have liked to have stayed longer, will perhaps check out other places in the area to see how they compare.

“Great stay for the price at east of Yosemite!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2011

We booked this hotel at the last minute in a busy summer season for 2 nights.
The lodge is conveniently located at east of Yosemite and it is besides June lake. Some rooms/suites have a great view of the June lake, unfortunately we didn't get such a view due to last minute bookings.

We reached too late after midnight and they had left us with all the instructions to reach our room.

There are a lot of breakfast/brunch places nearby.

In general, I would say if you are staying far from the west of Yosemite further west, it is too far from any place in the east.. If you want to see only yosemite national park, this is not the idle place to stay since you'll be driving a lot across Tioga pass and so it is impossible in winter.. If you are interested in boating, cycling, relaxing, this is an ideal place to stay.

As far as I know, this is just a lodge, I would love if they provide breakfast too.

Room Tip: Book in advance, ask for lake facing suite/room
