“New Years Visit”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

I really like this place. I've stayed in both the cabins and in the 'luxury suites'. The cabins are OK. If you want a kitchen, fireplace and a two bedroom suite style cabin, then this will probably work for you. The luxury rooms are nice. They are not 'high end' rooms, but the beds are comfortable and the rooms are decent. I've never thought much of the restaurant. The menu is uninspired. The wine selections are decent. I stayed here over New Years and the special event $90 per person meal was sub par. My wires lobster was undercooked and both of our medium rare filets were well done. Disappointing. We might stay here again when visiting June Lake but will either steer clear of the restaurant of just lower our expectations.

“Love the Water Fall”

We have gone to the Double Eagle for about 5 years in a row. If your in the luxury rooms it very nice. Don't get a cabin, it's fifty, hasn't had any up keep or remodeling in many years. Full of spider webs in the cabin, carpets are so dirty, the couch that makes in to a double was broken. And for the price for 2 days was $700.00 with tax. You would not believe the towels, they where as hard as sand paper and at my house I would of used them for rag's they where all worn and ragged, the bedding was so old and worn I would have use it for my dogs bedding. We love the restaurant and the grounds. It's losing it charm when you have to pay for those kind of prices and again for the cabin to be so run down. I have sent a letter to the owner, but of course I never received anything back from them. LOVE June Lake, but sorry Double Eagle your loss.

Room Tip: Stay away from the cabins they are in need of remodeling and CLEANING.

“" Fall Getaway"”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2011

We made reservations at the Double Eagle Resort and Spa on a recommendation of a friend,It was everything we expected. We were made to feel special on arrival and the Staff was courteous and helpful. Our room was well-appointed,everything worked. Our three day stay included a couple of sessions at the Spa--which was rated in the top 10 by Spa Magazine. We enjoyed several meals at the resort restaurant, sevice and food was excellent. We will stay there again on our next trip to June Lakes.

Room Tip: Ground floor is best for older folks

“great mountain getaway”

This is an excellent place to both kick back and relax in and to use as a base for exploring and experiencing the fascinating Mono Basin and the Sierras. One can easily fill up a week here absorbing the unique--tufa, craters--features of the basin, photographing/painting, fishing, bird watching, hiking, "leaf peeping" in the fall, and so on.

The room I had (deluxe room in 4-plex building) was spacious, nicely appointed, large jacuzzi tub, separate shower, deck, and wood burning stove in addition to central heat. Kids (and some adults) enjoy the resort's own trout pond. While i did not have time to use it, there spa looked really first class.

The staff was very helpful and efficient.

The only knock I could have is that restaurant food in the area is mediocre. The Eagles Landing restaurant at the resort did not live up to the other standards of the resort or to its prices. Next time i might try a cabin with efficiency kitchen.

will bring my wife and dogs next time--and there will be a next time.

“Fall vacation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 October 2011

We happened upon the Double Eagle Resort and Spa when we embarked on a fall vacation that had no itinerary or reservations. What a delight. It was so very quiet, clean, rooms spacious and well-appointed; we parked our car and stayed for three nights (Sun to Wednesday). The gym and spa were included in our room rate and we made good use of the pool, weight room and jacuzzi. We spent our days biking and hiking the area around the resort. We took all our meals at the resort and enjoyed each and every one. The wine was a little pricey and somewhat limited. The staff was accommodating, kind and responsive to all requests. I was able to enjoy a massage and facial during a rainy afternoon; this rounded out our week. We are already planning our next fall sierra escape that will include Double Eagle Resort and Spa.

Room Tip: We opted for the top floor of the luxury suites. There are four to a building. We had a king sized...
