Villa De Valor is in the historic town of Julian. This home is chock full with history for you history buffs. The home is quite old but very modern in terms of bath and entertainment.
There are only three suites available. All have their own entrance; bath and "living room." Each suite has its own satallite
TV with all channels available. One suite is a separate honeymoon cottage. Also DVD; CD and VHS with a library of choices in the room and in the main dining-sitting room. . There is a clock and radio also.
All of these amenities are cleverly disguised in antique armoirs.
The entire suite is full of authentic antiques all useable.
The bedroom has an antique bed, four poster, with a plethora of pillows. The mattress,sheets and blankets are European style. That is filled down types . Our night was very cold, windy and rainy but we were quite snug.
We arrived fifteen minutes early which did seem to upset Valerie but not to the degree she did not welcome us and show us around the grounds and room. She is the owner- operator so preparing the rooms is her responsibility.
There is a sauna available. The lovely garden has many features for a relaxing time.
The bathroom is full modern with all the expected amenities of a fashionable hotel, and still disguised in antiquity.
Through out the house and rooms there was no lack of thoughtfulness to the customers comforts. Night lights are everywhere, helpful without being bothersome.
The only negative; the four course breakfast was not served on Monday as Valerie is attending a Chef class. However the entire kitchen was open to us for any snacks or meal we wished to prepare ourselves.
She showed us how everything operated and explained she would be gone in the morning but to help ourselves to any foods in the kitchen or refrigerator-freezer.
We were the first patrons to have reserved other than direct which was new to Valerie. Perhaps reserving direct would have saved time and a bit of money.
