“GREAT”

The service was great, and the rooms were very nice. They are not modern at all, but when staying in Jamestown it is nice to experience how it was in the 1800's. The only down side to the hotel was that the TV was about 12 inches. But as I said there is enough to keep you occupied there where you do not need a TV

“New (rude) management, higher prices, total crap hole.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

Each year a group of us spend NYE in Jamestown, and we have always stayed at this hotel. Two out of three years, they lost my reservation, which meant our rooms were no longer grouped together. This year, the prices went up thirty dollars a night and they again lost my reservation. Our friend's "cottage room" had a chunk missing out of the glass in the window, so it was freezing, and there was no toilet paper. The new manager/owner is very defensive and rude. Also, our bed and pillow was so hard, by ears and sides would get numb and I'd have to keep turning over.

Main point: This place used to be cheap (55 bucks a night), and now it is around 100. It is a sh@t hole, but we didn't mind when it was less expensive. Just pay the few extra dollars and get a place that isn't so run-down.

Room Tip: Don't stay in the main hotel rooms. They are SO LOUD...you feel like people are coming into your...

“Worst experience ever!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 December 2011

This is my first bad review on tripadvisor but I feel like I have to inform everyone about our bad experience at this place.

My boyfriend and me stayed here in October 2011 for 1 night on the way to Yosemite Nat.Park and we had the room upstairs next to the balcony on the right. The room was small, but we didn´t book the Hyatt, and it seemed to be clean, so first it was ok.

BUT.

The lady at the front desk was not really friendly, it seemed we would disturb her by watching TV, she was always looking back to the room she came from, we had to ask for everything, she didn´t want to tell us the way to the room etc.

The night was terrible. People were drunk and talked the whole night on the balcony next to our room. The mattress made loud noises everytime we moved..

Next morning. My boyfriend sit on the bed (just sit, not jumped!) and the bed broke! So we told the guy at the front desk when we checked out and he said, after checking with someone in the room behind the front desk, that would be alright!!! (I don´t think it´s alright that they offer their guests beds which break the first time you sit on it but I was too tired to complain and I was happy they were informed so we could leave this place..)

So and now, guess what?! They charged us 2x 250 USD on the credit card. We asked why, and got a reply, that this is for the broken bed and the broken roam we left.

We didn´t do nothing!! My boyfriend just wanted to sit on the bed without jumping or anything, just to take on his shoes...
That´s a unbounded cheek and i can´t understand how they can treet their guests like that!
(oh and remember? The guy at the front desk said, it would be alright!!)

And not enough- next day -before we arrived at Yosemite- I recognized I had bed bugs bites in my face and neck (i got this checked at the hospital in Fresno afterwards because I wasn´t 100% sure and there I got my confirmation).

So, i can´t recommend this place at all. Sorry.

“Fairly Decent”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2011

I checked in for two nights. For the location in the town it was brilliant right in the middle of the main street. The room was fairly basic but it did have a sink, fridge and microwave and the double bed was really comfy. The room wasn't all that big, and there wasn't any storage space but as it was just me that wasn't an issue. I had a shower and toilet which was down the hall so it did mean running down the corridor in the middle of the night in my pjs. True, there was a window above the door which mean that light came in but I just turned off some of the lights in the corridor so it wasn't a problem. Be aware that the walls are quite thin and I could hear the guy next door snoring.

For the price you pay it is basic accommodation but charming none the less. There were open porches either side of the building so it was nice to have a drink looking over the street.

Didn't sample the breakfast but did have a fantastic one at Wood's Creek Cafe just over the highway. Go there instead.

“Good for the location but some issues.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

So I checked in on a Saturday Night, no reservations and got a pretty good rate. Considering it's proximity to Yosemite, I shouldn't be complaining.

The room's were ok. I got a cottage, the bed was well used, but I was tired so I didn't complain. The room squeeked and moaned as you walked around, but it was old, no biggie there either. The tv worked and it got the world series, the Wifi signal was decent, and the water was hot!.

The shower however was small.. really small, like, I couldn't bend over with out opening the door small.

The lady at the front desk didn't seem to know the area, but I don't understand how that could be. I asked a few questions about restaurants/breakfast. Was there a good mexican place? "There are no mexican places in town" despite that less then a block away there was a mexican place.

But, at this point, I was all set to be happy with my stay.

Then at midnight as I was fast asleep I hear a couple loud bangs and my door swings open. They had rented my room to another couple after I checked into it~!

Both of us were shocked... the poor couple was all freaked out and I was too.

I walked out of the room to see what was going on and found out my key no longer worked because the new key had made my invalid... so I had to walk to the office in my skivvies in order to get a new key made. As I was doing this the lady at the desk checked them into the room next to me.... ALSO OCCUPIED ALREADY!

So some issue's with this place.

It was clean, it was cheap, it was located good. It just had some issues.

Probably will try another hotel when I come back to town.

Room Tip: Throw the deadbolt when your ready to go to sleep so no one walks in on you!
