“Traditional Country Comfort”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 October 2011

Had a 2 night stay with wife and 6 y/o niece. We chose the suite, and having the extra room with sofa and the private entrance was nice, even if we didn't have a 3rd person with us. Breakfast was divine both mornings and we thoroughly enjoyed eating privately outside on the screened in porch. Overall very comfortable. Hard working staff. Great food and hospitality. Gorgeous turn of the century house.

“Beautiful gardens, lovely Victorian home, gracious hostess”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 September 2011

The descriptions written by other reviewers are not exaggerations! This stately old place is just beautiful and well cared for. You will be so pampered staying here.... wine, cheese, chocolate in the evening and the absolutely fantastic gourmet breakfast in the morning. Jamie is a perfect hostess and cook! She even did a special birthday surprise breakfast for my husband. We stayed the first night to attend a function in Jackson, CA and then visited Yosemite for a day and a half. We enjoyed our stay that first night so much that we returned for another night at the Gate House Inn. We left the next day to visit Tahoe and return to Sacramento for the flight home. Alas, we had to stay in a regular hotel, overnight, near the airport. It is much nicer to be spoiled at the Gate House Inn.

Room Tip: There is one room on the first floor which is also beautifully decorated in antiques. The bathroom...

“UNMATCHED SERENITY AND RELAXATION!!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

We love the Gatehouse!!!!!!!We have been spending our anniversary there each August for the past 12 years. This place seems to be a kept secret, and selfishly, I'm not sure I want to tell everyone about its virtues. It is THE ONLY B & B with a pool!!!! It is always pristine and warm too. We view the Gatehouse as a destination, not just a stop over place to sleep. If you are looking for some relaxation, you can just get to the Gatehouse, and stay put. They have a lovely garden area in which to sit and read or just enjoy the view. You can play bocce ball on Dave's "labor of love" field or play ping pong in the screened game room. Also you can challenge your partner in a game of darts. This is a real place to connect with the one you love or enjoy a weekend with a old friend. Jamie and Dave are warm welcoming hosts. There is a wine and hors d’oeuvres hour at 5 pm each day and a there course breakfast every morning. The hosts go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. If you stay in the Summer Cottage you have your own private fridge, but otherwise the hosts will chill your wine for you. Honestly, this place has been an annual retreat that has restored my sanity year after year. My husband and I often talk about our get away to the GH when things get difficult through out the year. This is a very special place, and you really need to come see for yourself. But don't schedule lots of activities, just stay there and reconnect or disconnect from all the technology for a few days. We love the fact that there are no TV's or phones here... If you want it bring it, but I suggest not doing so...This really is a place to find human connection again... Bravo Jamie and Dave... we love you.

“It really is wonderful.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2011

We stayed at the gate house inn for two nights and it was wonderful! Jamie goes to great lengths to make sure everyone is comfortable and enjoying their stay, breakfast is fabulous and the gardens are still pretty even in December.
This is a beautiful little b&b in the foothills, I highly recommend it.

“Visit here - you will Love”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2011

This is an amazing victorian built in 1902. Reasonably priced for the area. Condition is remarkable, with antiques everywhere. Would not recommend for younger children. Gardens are lovely to just walk and smell the flowers. Very private built-in pool with sun and shade areas. Owners are friendly and helpful. The breakfast - three courses!!! All served on the finest old-fashioned china. Step back in time and enjoy this Very Romantic B&B.

Room Tip: Master Suite. Detached bathroom. Bed FIRM
