“A quiet, pleasant stay...”

I enjoyed a night at the Jackson Lodge recently and it was a pleasant surprise. The staff was welcoming and friendly, the room was clean and larger than most, the bed was comfortable, but the best part was the wall of windows facing out to open space and woods. I left them open all night and it was quiet and cool.

“The place I really enjoy staying when In Jackson California.”

I stay in Jackson a week a month and have for years. I lived in Jackson for almost 20 years and know the town well. I always stay at the Jackson Lodge. The Jackson Lodge is a great out of the way place with owners who take extremely good care of their quests and their Motel. A beautiful clean pool area which is almost always quiet an peaceful for a dip or to just sit and sun or relax. It is close to downtown and to Sutter Creek but tucked away for great privacy and restful sleeping. I don't think you could go wrong as a business traveler or a family vacationer by staying at the Jackson Lodge. They even have cottages which I have not tried yet but plan to one day.

“Can't be any better than this”

I am a traveler business traveler for over 30 years. I stay in some very nice high end hotels as well as your everyday motels throughout the country. I travel to northern California often and I and a associate stumbled on... The Jackson Lodge over a 1 year ago and have stayed probably over 50 room nights in just this motel in the past year.
It is always clean, tidy and the staff is extremely helpful. I would recommend this motel for anyone who is traveling up or down highway 49 in the gold country. You WILL not find a better value.

“Roomy, but nothing special”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

For earning a No. 1 hotel ranking in Jackson, I sure was not impressed. Yes, the rooms are large, but not worthy of the $100 price tag. The Jackson Lodge is very basic and so is the breakfast: bagels, toast, oatmeal and some teeny apples. Quite lame. My advice, stay in a town with more charm like Sonora, Angel's Camp or up north in Nevada City.

“4 & 5 stars? I think not...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 September 2011

4 and 5 star reviews should have some special meaning. If you look at my other postings, you'll see that we have traveled quite a lot and have stayed at a full range of lodgings. And I suppose that one's star rating would have to be based on all of a reviewer's combined experiences. That said, I do wonder why this perfectly average motel rates the rave reviews.

The positives included a clean room, comfortable beds, fast and good WiFi, and ample towels. However, the room was quite small by 4-5 star standards (we had a motel room and can't speak for the cabins), the air conditioner was severely underpowered and took many hours to cool the room to an acceptable level, the shower head was literally perfect for me - and I'm 5'1" (the shortest I've ever seen), and the included continental breakfast featured "hot" water that was brought freshly to me for my tea but was lukewarm. Thank goodness for the microwave. However, it was that little attention to detail that really kept this from being a 4 or 5 star property.

If your needs include a small, clean room just to sleep in overnight, this is probably the place for you. If you want or expect more, you won't find it here.

Room Tip: Ask for an upstairs room
