“Don't know why you'd stay anywhere else”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 February 2012

This hotel was great. Big beautiful lobby and common area. Excellent service at the front desk every time we went there (which was plenty because my daughter and I cannot go twenty minutes without losing or deactivating our room keys). Jason, at the front desk, provided OUTSTANDING customer service with a smile and gracious sense of humor. Mark, the valet, did the same. In fact every employee we came across seemed eager to please and happy to be there.
Prior to our arrival and departure they sent emails offering us the opportunity to check in/check out on line. I'm glad I didn't do this because I liked the service at the front desk and check in was super fast.
The room was spotless, spacious and comfortable. Lots of room to put your things, great water pressure in the shower, Portico products and a little tube of toothpaste for your convenience.
Computer and printer in the lobby to check-in for your flight and print your boarding pass. Wall Street Journals to take on each floor lobby (hurray not USA Today!)
We were in the area for a specific purpose that kept us on the go, so many of the ammenities the hotel has to offer went unused by us; including the gym, pool, fire pit, restaurants and the two shops. Did go to the bar a couple of times and experienced the same friendly, wonderful service we had across the board at this hotel.
There are restaurants and a shopping center and grocery store near by. (1/2 mile or so)
Enough people have already talked about the fee for parking and internet-so I won't go into that except to say the fees are fully disclosed so if you choose to stay here, you know it's part of the deal. But really??? In this day and age why the wi-fi charge (oh-wait-I said I wasn't going to mention it)
Anyway, thanks for a great weekend Hyatt Irvine. . we hope to return!

“Another very comfortable stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Another very nice stay with the Hyatt Regency. Great space, grounds, pool, staff, etc. Rooms very nice and very clean. Rented a car this time and only about 15 mins from the beach. Rooms are very nice. Conference staff and space was very nice--I'd attend/host a conference there for sure. My only complaint was $16 per day for SELF parking. They have their own lot in the back with in/out, so not sure sure why they charge. Also, $13 per day for spotty internet is bogus. Hotels really need to stop charging for this when McDonald's and coffee shops offer free wifi. But overall a good stay. I didn't pay, so I might not like the price if I were traveling on my own dime, but it's a good solid hotel. Super close to the airport.

We appreciate your review and are pleased that we can be considered a solid hotel and that it was convenient for your access to and from the airport. We are happy that you were able to experience all of the amenities that the hotel has to offer and appreciate the recommendation for our conference facility. Customer service and guest rooms cleanliness are very important to us and we appreciate your comments. We are competitive with our pricing for the area for both parking and internet but do apologize if they were unexpected expenses for your stay.

“Wonderful front desk staff, really nice gym, view and room were wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

I don't know where/how they train the front desk folks at the Hyatt Regency Irvine, but I sure wish that kind of training (and results!) was shared with other chain hotel management.

In the past seven months, we've had five stays at the Hyatt Regency Irvine, all through Priceline. The most recent was three nights over Thanksgiving week ($51/night bid accepted). Typical of this establishment, the front desk staff was superlative once again. They treated us warmly (despite being Priceline customers) and were helpful in finding a room that delighted us. When they spotted us later in the visit, the front desk assistant who'd helped us inquired politely and sincerely how our visit was going and asked if we needed anything more.

The pool area looks great and seems popular, but we didn't use it. The gym is "just right" with a huge variety of machines and equipment plus little touches like cool towels and a nice view out the front of the hotel (but you're up high enough so you can exercise without being "seen" by outside folks).

Parking is not free ($15/day, self-parking is unlimited in and out) but it's that way *everywhere* in Irvine proper ('has something to do with the Irvine Corporation, I think). Internet is also not free but for this trip we were visiting family (which is uber-connected in their home) so we didn't try it. We experienced no bandwidth issues on previous stays at the Hyatt Regency Irvine.

I like the breakfast and snack options at the casual restaurant downstairs.

The room was comfortable--we especially appreciate the light and friendly "weight" of the furniture. It's comfortable and relaxing but it also is functional if you have to spend a lot of time at the desk, working. Note that the room photos on the corporate site for this hotel look just like our room; no surprises. The Portico-branded bath amenities are nicely-scented; the bathroom itself is a bit small and, I'm guessing, will receive an update to make them more "stylish" soon...but I'm just guessing!

We have family in Irvine (with no extra room for overnight visitors) as well as business there, so we Priceline this area frequently for lodging. We've stayed at the Marriott, the Crowne Plaza and the Hyatt Regency. This hotel, the Hyatt Regency, is the one we always hope to get when our Priceline bid is accepted.

Room Tip: We like the "mountain" side rooms--they offer a view across Irvine/Orange County and out t...

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with a detailed review of your time with us. It is fantastic to hear that our customer service training is making an impression. There are many options for booking the hotel and we would always like for our guest to start by looking on Hyatt.com for our best available rate. It will guarantee that the Hyatt Regency Irvine will be your destination. Also, it will give you the opportunity to join our excellent rewards program and obtain benefits from becoming a Hyatt Gold Passport member. Either way you book your reservation, on Hyatt.com or Priceline, we value your business and we look forward to seeing you back at the Hyatt Regency Irvine in the near future.

“Oversold”

I arrived at 11pm having traveled from New Hampshire, so tired and looking for a good night's sleep. I went to check in and it started very pleasantly but then someone more senior interceded abruptly and informed that there no room for me. They had booked a room for me at the Crowne Plaza but I got it changed to the nearby Marriott, which was excellent.
I understand the business model and this has happened to me before and, despite my Gold status, I was OK with it. However, they informed me that no-one was getting a room as they were completely sold out. But I saw at least four people get rooms after me. When I asked there was no explanation. Next time I am in Irvine I will go back to the Marriott, even if the meeting is at the Hyatt.

Room Tip: Go to the nearby Marriott

“Decent Value.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Paid $60 through Priceline. Room was relatively clean, bed was good, and the pool area was great. Didn't eat at the restaurant or go to the bar but they both looked really nice. The negative was they only offer 1 King bed or 2 doubles...2 queens is not an option and they charge for parking ($15 a day) and Internet. I would stay there again for what I paid but would prefer a Marriott for a few dollars more.

We wish you could have had the opportunity to dine with us in our restaurant, our culinary team does an excellent job and the service is outstanding. I can understand how the internet charge could be an added expense but assure you that we are competitive with our pricing in the area. We hope that the positive aspects that you have mentioned will help you to consider changing your mind when returning to Irvine.
