“Small, clean, but lacking amenities-expensive internet access”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 April 2010

This hotel/timeshare is located in the heart of Indian Wells, a very upscale community near Palm Springs. We purchased a week via "last minute vacations" and therefore are speaking from another perspective....the "last minute" crowd. We got a great deal for the week, so all the annoying parts of this timeshare reflect the price we paid.

However, for people who are exchanging a time share week, attention!

Our one-bedroom condo is extremely small and, while clean, does not reflect the type of resorts we are used to renting via RCI. There are VERY FEW amenities,,,,,we were surprised they didn't even have take out movies and DVDS for their guests. The kitchen in our one-bedroom unit is miniscule....don't try to create a meal here! Also, the one-bedroom is hardly large enough for two people. Don't dare to rent a studio if you are more than one person.

We were most annoyed by the internet access uploads. We travel to Palm Springs often, and most of the hotels/resorts we rent give us a good deal on Internet connection. The connection at this hotel costs DOUBLE ($50 per week) that we paid at other properties. Everyone needs internet connection these days. We feel this is a rip-off.

Thanks for allowing us to review this hotel.

the worst place of any in this world i have stayed.the beds, which i was told were only a year old, probably twenty.we could not use the kitchen table as everything would fall off, except the newspaper. and the sound level....we could not open the doors to the balconey because of the street noise....the kitchen, minimal....my favorite part.the ashtrays on the stairs as you went to the second floor [should have been a clue]....avoid this place at all costs.........go to another city.another hotel...but do not stay at the sands of indian wells

“Comfy, cheap, clean”

Have stayed here twice. Timeshare resort, so some amenities limited, but all have kitchens. Front desk folks nice and very helpful. I like that it is gated at night (no non-guests wandering in). Kid-friendly, large pool, can get loud in summer and on weekends but generally quiet during week in other months. Decor somewhat dated, but okay. Small apartment-like rooms -- try to get one BR and not studio.

“Great time at a quaint little spot”

Okay, so this place is no five stars, and it does not have all the amenities you would associate with a timeshare/resort hotel, but for a family of four, we had a blast. We would definitely go back.

The front entrance is under construction right now because the restaurant out front is moving to a new center right next to the complex. There are only about 60 units centered around a nice pool (huge deep end!) with a children's pool attached and a hot tub. The pool area contains nice Gas Grills for making burgers by the pool.

There is also a common kitchen (in addition to the room kitchens) that is connected to a large patio with two more BBQs. On our last night, we BBQued chicken, Carne Asada, played ping-png and shuffleboard with the kids and generally just relaxed. It's that kind of place. You don't go to be pampered, but you do go to be left alone.

If anything, our particular room was a little small (lenses do miracles for online room photos) but other than that it was great. The staff was nice and helpful and always around. There is also a nice children's playground and a putting green. It became our home for a week and we loved it.

  • Liked — The small size of the complex

“Resort - it's not!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 October 2006

We stayed at this hotel using an RCI week and it was a disappointment.. I can't really call it a hotel or resort. It is a modified motel. The "suites" are really just small rooms. And I mean small. The bathroom is so tiny, that the shower door doesn't open more than a foot because the door bangs up against the toilet. There is no bathtub. The room itself is small. In order to move around, we had to move the tiny coffee table against a wall, so that we didn't bang into it all the time. The patio is just a cement wall with 2 cheap, white plastic chairs and a small table. The locks on the doors are very poor. Not a inviting place to spend any time.

There is a vending machine for drinks and an ice machine. There is no store or gift shop and they don't sell any snacks. The office is only open for specific hours each day with no attendants at night.

The place does have a decent pool and nice BBQ's are provided if you want to cook. This place would be OK as an inexpensive place to stay for a day or two, but I would not recommend it if you're looking for a resort vacation spot.
