for a land lubber from Iowa, the ocean (any time of year) is a great experience. Sea Sprite is old fashioned, but very polite staff and owned by an ex Marine. The location in literally ON the sea side boardwalk where one can see skaters, bikers and all. Bikes for rent around the corner, a nice bike ride to Redondo's sea side fish market and outdoor cafe, a one block walk from Sea Sprite is Hermosa's main street extension of the pier, with many little outdoor cafes with great happy hour tapas and so on.

They call it a no frills place and it is that.... but if you want to be on the beach (and I mean right ON the beach) and not break your bank, this is a good spot. We've stayed a half dozen times and have always found the staff friendly and helpful and the surroundings clean. This time we had a two bedroom unit with two bathrooms. Most of the rooms here have an ocean view, but this one does not. It did fit our family well and we used the full kitchen to its best advantage. The only thing we did not use was the dishwasher. If you are looking for fancy, skip the 'Sprite. But if you want location and value, check it out.

Doesnt not hav any pots or pans and Room 7 has no water pressure but other than that it was awesome.

After a botched condo rental, my friends and I were able to rent a small appartment at the Sea Sprite at the last possible minute, during March break. The hotel staff was extremely accomodating and very willing to help us out of a tight spot.

In terms of the rooms, they were very clean, but very outdated. They probably have not been updated since about 1960. But again, they were clean, and were equipped with all basic amenities. The major bonus for this place is the price, especially when you consider the location... literally a half step from beautiful Hermosa Beach. You can feel the sea spray from your balcony. The general vibe is total California, laidback surfer, so expect that from the quests, and the staff.
