“Over priced and under delivered”

The room was shabby and in need of maintenance. The owners were friendly but not warm and welcoming. The tv was tiny probably 11-13 inches and was situated as far as possible from the bed. Upon arrival, we read the in room ammenities book which said that there was a wine tasting on their Speakeasy. We dressed up and went to the speakeasy, which wasn't happening. No one was around to explain. In the morning, we asked the front desk when the speakeasy happens and she said she didn't know but she thought on Fridays. Later we asked the cook and she said she thought it was on Saturdays. Wel which is it? It would be a good idea to update the in room book. Also, each morning for breakfast, the front desk person came to our table and with out passion read what we were going to eat. I'm fairly certain that the menu has the same items each week and if not how hard can it be to memorize pumpkin pancakes? Overall this place was a complete disappontment. The owners really don't seem like they want to run a bed and breakfast.

This review is totally inappropriate and should be removed as soon as possible as it contains false statements, derogatory comments about us and our staff, our breakfasts, the size of the television and the condition of the room these guests occupied.
1. I specifically remember these guests storming down to the front desk as soon as they entered their room complaining about the size of the television. In response, we advised that all 12 rooms have the same size TV's, all televisions have a minimum of 20 inch screens, are less than a year old LCD/ HD thin line sets with free access to all premium channels. We chose to position the screens above the liveable space in the rooms to allow the guests more room and eliminate and clutter. No others guests have ever complained about the televisions.
2. We enjoy what we do and have trained our staff to follow our example when they interface with guests and are constantly on premises to insure all of our guests feel at home. A quick look at the other reviews posted as recently as a week ago demonstrates the truth of this response.
3. Our cook does not speak English so it is hard to believe the statement that our cook even understood what they were asking. In fact, we provide each guest free of additional charge, including these folks, with a fine bottle of Old VIne Zinfandel which retails for $37.50 in lieu of a wine tasting which we do on certain weekend days ( either Fridays or Saturdays) and no special dress code is required. SInce the bottle of wine was already placed in their room before their arrival we can only assume they were disappointed that they did not get a wine tasting in addition to the free bottle of wine.
4. We take great pride in the quality of our breakfasts ( and portions) and change the menu each and every day to avoid repetition. Their supposition that we repeat breakfasts is plainly untrue.
5. These guests were asked if everything was to their liking upon their departure and they advised that they were pleased with the accommodations and breakfasts but did say they felt the TV was not large enough to their liking; a complaint that we never had after an entire year of many guests staying with us.
6. It is also unfair to merely state that the room was 'shabby' without specifying what aspect of the room they booked led to such unwarranted conclusion since every room is inspected every day. Had any complaints been brought to our attention about the condition of the room we would have add
We find it very frustrating to see reviews that are not factually correct, disparaging of our staff and ourselves and the amenities we provide. A quick look at other reviews, including those that were posted as recently as this week will attest to what we have stated in this reponse.
This insulting review, should be removed immediately for the reasons stated.

“Wonderful weekend getaway”

My husband and I stayed at the Grape Leaf Inn this past weekend and it was a wonderful experience through and through. The inn was charming and the breakfasts were amazing! We stayed in the Gamay Rose, which was nice and roomy. The bed was large and comfy, and the shower in this room was amazing (great water pressure!). The location was nice, very convenient to walk to the Healdsburg square (shopping and eating). It's a very homey inn and all the staff were warm and friendly. I should note that we were a little concerned upon checking in that our room was right off of one of the common areas, but we slept great---it was very quiet the whole time we were there.

Room Tip: The Gamay Rose was great---roomy with high ceilings. It's on the first floor right off the comm...

“Wonderful place to stay!!!”

We had the pleasure of getting to stay at the Grape Leaf Inn for two days as part of a company retreat. It was a wonderful experience! Our every need was met, and it was just such a pleasant, beautiful, place. The breakfast is amazing; the speakeasy is a delight, the rooms are gorgeous, and Richard, the owner, was a great host. We would love to go back!

Room Tip: We loved the Viogner room. It had a fireplace and a great bath.

“Why Would You Stay Anywhere Else?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

My wife and I spent the Christmas holidays at the Grape Leaf Inn. We have visited the Grape Leaf a number of times, both at the inn and at the vineyard cottages. After these many visits, we would not stay anywhere else in Healdsburg.

This is a fabulous and unique experience. We have traveled extensively in the US and prefer to stay at inns rather than "cookie-cutter" hotels. The Grape Leaf is our most favorite spot. Kae and Richard are superb hosts. The breakfasts are out of this world. We have never had a repeat menu. On this visit, the pumpkin pancakes, thick smoked bacon and the fruit place drizzled with local honey ere standouts. No need to worry about lunch after you have completed this wonderful meal.

Our favorite room at the Grape Leaf in Syrah. The soaking tub and steam shower are unique experiences. We have looked at all of the other rooms and you cannot go wrong booking any one of them. The photos on the website only provide a quick peak at the attention to detail shown in the furnishing of each room. The rooms are all unique and we would recommend them all.

As if the breakfast experience is not enough of a recommendation, the evening wine tasting that Richard hosts on weekends in the Speakeasy is be best introduction to boutique Sonoma/Alexander Valley wines you will find. Most of the wines poured come from vintners too small to have substantial distribution channels. The Speakeasy experience gives guests the opportunity to sample these treasures and to join the wine club to receive them on a regular basis.

My wife and I find that experiences in life make you the happiest and our experiences at the Grape Leaf Inn over the years keep us coming back to Healdsburg as often as our calendar allows. With that experience, why would you stay anywhere else?

“Great location to explore Sonoma Wine Country”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2012

Great location in Healdsburg, you can walk to shops and great restaurants, yet the Inn in on a quiet street so the Inn itself is very quiet. Would highly recommend visiting Arista winery if you like Pinot Noirs and A. Rafanelli if you like Cabernets, Merlot or Zins.
