First of all, this was a lesson learned for me...Drove from LA to Castro Valley to visit some relatives so I was looking for something reasonable since we will only be using this place to sleep and shower. We were going to be spending most of our time at my uncles house which less then 2 miles away. The Inn looks decent from the outside. The property is actually not bad given that parking is not a problem and the exterior seemed nice enough. I knew this was going to somewhat unpleasant as soon as I checked in. The guy from the front desk was staring me at in strange way and he was moving soo SLOW. After 6 hrs of drive, all I wanted was to get my room and settled in for a bit before we head out to my uncles place. It wasn't really bad but it felt a little weird the way he interacting. After a few more mins, he got us our keys and we headed to our room which was on ground floor. Initial reaction was - it smell dingy, like moist towel left to dry inside a room w/o circulation. We wanted to back out and changed hotel but they had a no refund policy so we were stuck for 3 nights. Next day, we wanted to borrow a blow dryer since the one in our room wasnt working, but the front desk lady was so unpleasant and all she said was they they don't have any extra one available. I wanted to know what other options we have but she just stared and same thing and then walked off. I wanted to complain more but I couldnt ruin my morning any further. Since then I tried to avoid interaction with any of their staff because it would just be a waste of time since they appear to be unwilling to help. Hope this is helpful for those who has other options in the area. I heard Castro Valley Inn is way better and at the same proce range.

Where do I begin?? First, when my secretary booked the reservation, we asked for an extra bed- when I arrived, the very unpleasant, unprofessional man finally appeared behind the dest, with no smile nor friendly "Welcome" denied that I had requested an extra bed, even though it was clearly printed on my confirmation letter for $20.00 more. When I asked to see his copy, he impolitely told me NO and that he didn't have to show me anything! OK, I got past that and once I did get to the room, there was absolutely NO room for an extra anything let alone another bed! I entered the smallest queen room ever with two small, smelly midget sized queen beds I have ever seen and smelled. The "inwall" tissue dispenser was so rusted that neither me or my children would dare use it without getting a tetanus shot. The room and bedding smelled of urine and unprotected sex. There was grafitti engraved on the furniture. I was forced to go to Walmart and buy bedding . It was gross, filthy and disgusting and billing it as a three star hotel is absurd.

Just a few obvervations dirty walls, dirty carpet with burn marks, bath room same thing tile floor
dirty towels worn and very rough, furniture dented and scratched and grafitted, but this is all my fault looks very nice on the outside so I didnt bother to check out the rooms first, so I booked
two days they have a no refund policy so we were screwed Budget Inn should be ashamed
of having facilities like these, oh one more thing free breakfast what a joke the has station across the street has better junk food.

If you are looking for a VERY cheap and decent looking hotel this is it. The facility outside looks very nice. I booked 2 NON smoking rooms which I was only granted with 1. This is my description of how we found the rooms.

Room # 1:
Room was clean, beds were somewhat comfortable and clean, carpet did have a few burned holes. Room had a little desk area, tv with a variety of channels, a fridge and a microwave. Bathrrom was clean. Room smelled horrible (smoke), it wasn't until I saw on the bed and saw an ash tray I'd realized it was a smoking room. A/C unit does cool but it still goes on even when you turn it off and then it gives a burning smell. Room had spiders in it. After a night there TV's screen went black and you could not change channels, but it magically fixed itself the next day :).

Room # 2:
Also looked decent, clean beds. Room had VERY STRONG humidity odor that would not go away, bathroom tub would not drain. Asked to borrow an iron at the front desk, not only did we have to pay for a "deposit" the iron did not work!

If you liked what you read, go ahead and book it! If you are looking for a place to sleep and cheap, it works. We only stayed there during the night just to sleep. If it wasn't for the dingy smell, the burned carpet and the SPIDERS it would have been a nice hotel. I had specifically requested NON smoking rooms next to each other, which manager said it was no problem but did not happen. Regarding the drain, we'd asked to be moved, they just sent someone to drain the tub. I don't know if this is standard for every hotel but they did copy my id & debit card. The last night we stayed there and found the spider, the other person staying with me in the room had to sleep in the same bed with me, afraid more would come, and to be honest I didn't sleep much thinking one would crawl into bed with me. And by the way the spider would NOT die!! :( It was like a horror movie, it kept coming back to life! Another thing, they advertise free internet, lie! When you try to access it, it'll ask you for a password and id, how could you have one if you've never been here! They don't give you any info regarding it, maybe they have a special log in info for customers, I don't know!

I hope my review helps someone, I spent almost a week looking for a nice hotel but reviews didn't give much info. Some people do have a nice experience, not all rooms are the same, and if someone got a crabby manager, maybe they were having a bad day and that's why they treated the other person they way they did, I'm not saying that it was ok for the person to act that way but sometimes they need a break :) What I did like about the hotel is, or the area it was located in, it had lots of options to go eat. It had an IHOP, it had a chinese place, it had starbucks down the road :), it also had a safeway, a walgreens, a gas station, you could pretty much walk to all these places!
