We had a great 4th of July weekend stay at the Russian River Studios. It was easily accessible to downtown Guerneville (less than mile) as well as to the nearby wineries including Korbel.

The Studios are managed by Fred and Faye - who could not be more hospitable. I was impressed by their kindness. Here's an example. When I was poolside, I heard Fred trying to find a room for a caller --- as the Studios were all booked for the weekend. I had spoken to Fred on the phone twice before arriving and each time I could hear the smile in his voice.

They take a lot of pride in their property. The grounds are well-maintained and there are planters with garden flowers on the railings. We were impressed by the cleanliness of all aspects of the rooms. I know most of the rooms have been re-done within the past two years. Our room had a nice comfortable iron bed with soft linens. The bathroom had the softest towel sets.

The separate kitchenette had an oven, full set of dishes, pots, and a full size clean refrigerator.

I had the opportunity to talk with Fred and Faye (as they graciously offered us some fresh guacamole, chips, wine and company.) They are actively involved in the Russian River Chamber of Commerce and work to support the local community. Their experiences in life make them compatible with just about every kind of traveler -- the international set, young or older travelers, gay or straight. The office also has local maps, restaurant menus and other helpful items.

It's true; I could hear the people in the next room. Also, the lights from outside ar visible in the room at night because the curtains are so thin. The shower is a bit tight too. However, I still enjoyed my stay. The room was so cute. Also, I loved that it had a kitchen. My bf and I made breakfast each morning. Yum! The studio is reasonbly priced.

This place labels themselves as 'studios', when the reality of it is they are at best a cheap motel.

1) You can hear EVERYTHING through the walls! I could hear people coughing!

2) The bed is horrible! It is dressed in cute linens but it was terribly uncomfortable.

3) The Tv cable was not working.

4) The burners dont work, trying to cook was out of the question.

5) The staff is horribly rude. Not sorry for any of these unpleasant expriences.

6) Check is only from 3-7, after that they 'leave the key at the door'-oblivious to how unsafe that is.

7)The shower is tiny and dirty.


Do not stay here, not even if its the last place to stay!!!!!!!
Unpleasant and uncomfortable.

My husband and I decided to take a last-minute weekend trip to the Russian River area. I found the listing for Russian River Studios in Guerneville on Craigslist. It's a great deal for the area at $69/night for a studio apartment with kitchen. I guess I was hoping for a fabulous deal-a really cute place for a cheap price, but I should have realized those kinds of places only exist in my dreams:)

The pictures on the website make the place look much more charming than it is. The studio we stayed in had shabby carpet and a dingy comforter which grossed me out. The part that really bothered me though was the light. The building light was outside our studio (there are 8 studios in the complex) and light filled the room all night. It looked like the middle of the day in the middle of the night!

That said, I give the place three stars. For what we wanted from our trip it was a one star experience, but if you can sleep through anything and want a barebones place to throw down your bags, explore Guerneville, and cook in your own kitchen this could be the place for you.
