This was, I think, our 5th visit to Highlands. What brings us back all the way from England? The cabins are great, the owners are great, the town is great ( with plenty of bars and cafes / restaurants) the area is amazing ( especially the Armstrong reserve if you like hiking / wildlife ) and simply the way you can just chill out and relax is quite astonishing.
It really is a fabulous place to unwind and forget your real life.
We only ever spend a few days at a time here becuase of holiday schedules but there is so much to do and most of it can be done without a car ( though theres a heck of a lot to be done with the car too) check out the back woods and hills, go off the beaten track to tiny towns ,forgotten mines, stunning views to the ocean and of course dozens of winerys and tasting rooms! Top tip for food: `Cape Fear` at Duncans Mills and` Boon Eat and Drink`, in town, not cheap but goooood!
For the resort though, it`s clean and well maintained cabins have all been re-fitted recently, cosy and relaxed the breakafast is basic but good the pool area a superb place to sunbathe and swim and there is always such a friendly atmosphere.
Simply - Highlands is a great place to be!
