Arrived on business at the Crowne Plaza Fullerton for one night. This hotel is located next to the 91 Freeway, a busy traffic artery in Orange County. Be sure to request a pool view room or a room on the back if freeway noise bothers you. Good luck escaping noise, though, as this property is close to railroad tracks and a heavy truck storage yard with sounds from both evident day and night.
The exterior of the hotel looks dated. The parking lot is large with free parking. Check in took longer than normal with a staff member who seemed to be new and was unfamiliar with the hotel's computer system. The lobby is small and uneventful.
My room was clean and modern with a bed that was average in comfort. Bathrooms are small. The television was large with a wonderful picture.
The pool area was impressive with a large pool and a warm spa. Plenty of chairs are available for a small gathering or if you just want to lounge under the Southern California sun. Traffic noise can be heard from the pool area even though it is surrounded on four sides by the hotel.
Now for the downside:
First, when an inquiry was made regarding the location of the workout room at the hotel, front desk staff informed me that the exercise equipment was only available to Priority Club members who had access to the executive level floors. Frankly, I have stayed at dozens of hotels and this is the first time a hotel's exercise facility has not been open to all guests.
Second, be aware that guests have to pay for computer use and computer print outs in the business center. Most Holiday Inn Express and Hampton Inn hotels have complimentary business centers these days and it's not as if this Crowne Plaza is an exclusive property.
Finally, no newspaper was placed in front of my door in the morning. When I asked front desk staff where I could get a newspaper, they informed me that they were out. This was at 6:15 a.m.
This hotel needs to rethink what customer service is all about and develop an attitude of putting the customer first. The Crowne Plaza Fullerton is not recommended and no stays will be made here in the future.
Room Tip: I do not recommend this hotel but if you decide to stay, request a poolside room to escape the traff...
