“Unbelievably dirty and stinky!”

The worst hotel we have been to! Terrible!! As soon as the door opened, we smelled a poo but do not know if it's dog poo or human poo..I almost threw up! We had to cover our noses at night with the blankets just so that we do not smell the disgusting odor. We had to turn on the aircon so the smell won't be that bad. We did not want to turn it on because it was cold that time but we were forced to turn the aircon on so that we do not smell the poo! I can' t believe it. A dirty stained and crumpled towel was placed on top of the toilet sink when we arrived. The sink was clogged. The carpet was very dirty..almost blackish in areas from the door to the toilet. Other carpet areas were not stained though. My husband and I tried not to talk about our bad experiences just so that our vacation is not ruined. I am calling the management of Super 8 Motel please have mercy! Please have mercy! Please keep the rooms clean. That is all I ask. Thank you!

“Not good value!! Not good service! Not very clean!”

We've stayed here more than once, ONLY because of the location. It's close to the Radison Hotel, and we have attended a dance event there for several years over the May long weekend. If we were too late to get into the Radison, we've used Super 8 as back-up, ONLY because it's very close walking distance to the Radison Hotel. The last time, will be the LAST stay at Super 8.

They double charged us for one of our nights, and they were refusing to give us a credit on the charge from the hotel. Instead, they were insisting they wanting to call Hotels.com and tell Hotels.com that we only stayed for one night, to have THEM reverse the extra charge. Since it was the mistake of the hotel, we were not willing to let them call Hotels.com and lie to them. We also wanted to get our points credits from the online booking, since we always use them.

As for the rooms... well, our first "suite" consisted of having the bathroom broken up into 2 rooms. A lovely toilet in one large bathroom, across from the window. And, then you needed to walk out into the room area, and over to another room to get to the tub/shower, and fridge. (??? weird!) That room came with a complimentary dead moth on the bathroom floor. We asked to have our room switched to another "suite". If you are looking for extra space for your family... don't pay extra for a suite (if you insist on booking here ;) -- a suite just means that you get a couch squeezed into the room, and a fridge, and a microwave. Our second "suite", the towels in the bathroom had a few long black hairs hanging off them (ewwwww). No one in our family has long black hair.

The bed is not very comfortable. The pillows are horrible (although everyone's personal preference on pillows is different).

If you ask at the front office for pool towels, they will send you out to track down the maids, and get your own. The customer service is lacking, to say the least.

We won't stay here again. Ever.

“Good location. Not the best, not the worst”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 November 2009

Well located within the triangle of Highways 41, 99 & 180, you can get anywhere from here easily by car, but that it's close to the Convention Centre will be the maker or breaker for many. As it was midweek we negotiated to $72 a night for a 3 day stay (so never be afraid to ask!), and found the owners and staff very friendly. Free breakfast was a selection of pastries, muffins, cereal, juice and coffee in the reception area, and there was a fridge and coffee making facilities in our room. Sadly, both the bedroom and bathroom - while very clean and well presented - were on the small side and we felt very cramped. The free wifi was frustrating, as BOTH our Dell notebooks had constant issues with connectivity. Though the front desk said it was a first, it presented a huge problem to us being there on business. The night we arrived a broken light fixture was brought to the attention of the owners but it wasn't repaired during our stay despite assurances of dealing with it "next day". Foodwise, within walking distance and highly recommended for quality & value is "Joe's Steakhouse and Grill". With just one more restaurant directly across the street from Joe's (Hero's Sports Bar and Grill) the options are slim. No guest laundry was a downside for us. Certainly, there are probably better and cheaper places in Fresno, but it's by no means the worst.

“Awful”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 June 2007

We stayed in this hotel for one night while on a road trip. It has to rank as the worst hotel on the trip.

The lady on reception was half asleep and spent our check in time yawning. She then appeared again the next morning wearing the same clothes – nice!

We had two rooms and they were both dirty (particularly the bathrooms which contained a pleasing selection of other peoples hairs). The door on our room didn’t lock (we discovered this in the morning when we left the room to check out.

The hotel is also located in a pretty seedy part of town – so walking around the area at night can be quite unnerving.

We would never stay here again and I would warn anyone else against it.

  • Liked — Leaving in the morning
  • Disliked — Gettin out of the shower and feeling more dirty than before I went in

“Newly renovated ... 20 years ago!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2006

I was traveling with my wife and son on our way from Kings Canyon to the pacific coast. I booked this hotel via the super 8 site because it claimed "newly renovated rooms" and mini suites with sleeper sofas.

Even minutes before we actually arrived, I became sceptic. The neighboorhood is not a good one. Once we were there, it was terrible. The rooms might have been "newly renovated", but that was 20 years ago. The mini suites was just what other super 8's call a regular room with a very small sleeper sofa in it. All this for a really high price. Plus, you hear the nearby trains. The usual super 8 breakfast was also not really usable. During our stay, the spot seemed to be used mainly by utility workes, which, I assume, paid much less than we did.

Conclusion: a rip-off. I'd avoid it at all costs when I am next in the area. The super 8 on highway 99 might be a better alternative (at least the neighborhood looks better). We stayed just because we were to lazy to get into "big complaint mode" for the night..
