Not bad for the money, but broken heater and unable to refrigerate groceries
Probably would rate a 4, but no heat or refrigerator 3 for October, I would change to a 2 if it was November or later.

My hubby and I stayed here using the skunk train package(two nights+two train tickets) which was quite a good deal for such a vacation area in Summer time. The entrance of motel was a little tricky to find, but the reception was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. It is close to retaurants, grocery store, gas station.... very convenient!

This is a wonderful little hotel on the West side of Highway 1 in Fort Bragg, CA.

Very clean, and many upgrades inside. We had a room on the upper floor so we were able to leave the window open at night and listen to the bouy's ding and some wind chimes all night. Some light traffic noise but not bad at all.

The down side was that it was still warm (mid Sept) and we had been hiking all day so when we discovered there was no AC I was dissapointed. The bed was too soft for us too, so between the two items I did not catch a lot of sleep.

We just stayed at the Emerald Dolphin Inn motel and it was good value for the expensive area. I called the hotel directly and a very nice and helpful Kim gave me a slightly better deal than Priceline and the hotel's own website. Our room was toward the back of the building, away from the street so it was fairly quiet. They are nicely decorated with newer furniture. It doesn't have a great view of the ocean/beaches but a cliff trail was just down the side road. Our room was very clean and everything in good working order. We had a little fridge, no micro though. Tip: keep the fridge on the lowest temp setting, our froze everything. I don't think the rooms come with microwaves but there was one in the breakfast area. The cont. breakfast is really sparse though, very basic. And the pillows are kind of flat, we brought our own. The bed was pretty comfortable though, not really soft, not really hard. We didn't hear a lot of noise through the walls but we did have some noisy, inconsiderate people outside talking late at night. I asked them to quiet down and they did. The front desk guy was nice and helpful, efficient. The hotel is right across the street from a shopping center, so that is convenient, but maybe a little more noisy. We liked our stay here and will definitely consider it again for the good value.
