Hotel was clean and located right on RT 101. The staff was helpful and gave us good dinner suggestions. They had free hot and cold breakfast witch was good and free limited dinner buffet that we did not try. For the price, not bad.

I've been staying at the Clarion about once a year for the last eight years. When we were married in December 2008, we along with most of the guests stayed at the Clarion, which offered us an excellent group discount. The only negative we've noticed is that it's on the highway, and about a mile from the main place to go walking around (Eureka's Old Town); but the neighborhood itself is fine, with several restaurants within a few blocks. Very nice front desk staff, very good breakfast bar with waffle makers, sausages, etc. Overall, the best place to stay in Eureka proper, especially for the price!

The room absolutely reeked of unwashed bedding and the room, in general, was filthy. The sheets were old, yellowed, and pilling and the mattress was lumpy with deep body impressions in it. The bathroom smelled of mildew and there was a nasty, used coffee filter in the coffee machine. The noise from Highway 101 (just at the curb) is loud and obnoxious. The free "breakfast" is inedible. We cancelled our second night and would've left immediately except for the fact that we had just driven 6 hours on the Pacific Highway and were completely spent. Consider yourselves warned - stay away!

For the second year in row we stayed at the Clarion during August for 5 days in King bedded Room 201 in the annex behind the restaurant area. Since last year, the hotel seems to have updated the bathroom with a new shower/bath unit. The staff is f riendly, rooms are clean and fair sized, with complimentary hot breakfeast, especially the waffle machine, and complimentary internet in the lobby. While just off busy Route 101, the area of our rooms and the interior rooms are quiet. About 7 blocks south are a variety of cafes and restaurants in the historic district. Try Pearl or Kyoto for sushi, and Hurricane Kate's in nearby Arcata, Renata's Creperie and Trattoria in Sunnybrae for fresh ingredients reasonably priced. Marina cafe across the overpass provides nice sunset views-restaurant is ok but nothing special, and the dunes area further along towards arcata makes for a worthwhile visit if you don't want to travel N to Trinidad area and clam beach.
