We checked out several other places before we decided to stay at the Travelodge. Price was reasonable, and the room was clean. We could hear some traffic noise in our room, but the noise stopped by the time we went to sleep. Will probably come back again next year.

We travel a lot and stay in lower priced motels frequently (i.e. our standards are note high), but this was one of the worst. In general disrepair, only source of heat was an unsafe looking space heater, questionable cleanliness and rude front desk staff. But the kicker? Bed Bugs. Yes, we actually caught one in the bed the next morning and had it positively ID'd by an entomologist after the fact. Front desk staff at the time were exceedingly unhelpful (actually suggested that perhaps WE brought the insect with us!) and corporate customer service said only 'we'll let management know'. Never again.

It's the place you stayed at in the '70's when traveling w/your parents in a station wagon. Very clean, good water pressure in the shower (no water saving shower head here), scratchy towels, and sheets w/a thin blanket because the room is stifling hot. Front desk personnel is very friendly and helpful. We came on the weekend to get kids checked into the dorms at HSU and the County Fair was going on. Everything was booked. I'd say don't stay anywhere on 4th or 5th Street because both of these streets are US101, (heading south on 4th and heading north on 5th). Besides the noise I'd say this place would have been a 3. But if you're a light sleeper pay the extra to get off the main road.

We were looking for a hotel around Eureka just a few days before our long weekend trip. We didn't care to read about ratings before booking considering our past experience with Travelodge which was good.
######We didn't imagine Travelodge would be this terrible. Its like a cheap motel. Fixtures were broken. The bedside lights didn't work,!! (Can't the broken switches be fixed?) No power points except for the one at the entrance. We had to take turns with that one point recharghing our phones, camera, camcorder and using laptop!!!! Very old room walls and bathrooms, didn't feel like using the old shower. There is a fan fixed on the wall but didn't work!! Front office answered our call saying, Eureka's weather doesn't need them. (Room was warm when we got in and fan would have been helpful)!
#####Probably 2 starts for Breakfast with Egg&cheese buns (when these were over, some fruits replaced them), some chocolate/frosted donuts, packaged muffins, and cereal.
