“only stayed here to complete a choice promotion, too expensive otherwise, and the $50 deposit demand was L A M E.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2011

so, choice privileges makes me a courtesy reservation for this property, (NO CC necessary), and upon my walking in, the owner/clerk hits me up for a CC-I say, no, i am paying cash.he then demands a $50 deposit, for 'incidentals' (none sold).I acquiesce. but grudgingly.the breakfast was the cheaply cut apart muffins & juice.the $50 deposit that i had to pull teeth to get returned was NOT the same $50bill i left over....this kind of annoyed me....and, yes, its eu tweak a, but it was near the red fox., so, thats why i was there. but, lets face it, if you know the area, you know you tweak a, can be tocuh and go, but the neighborhood this property is in is NOT the worst one.also: 101 thru eureak is NOT a freeway, but rather a surface street, and due to the town layout, many businesses are between the lanes, thems the breaks.

“Good Value by Eureka Standards”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2010

The Econolodge saved me $20-30 dollars over some of the nicer motels in Eureka, they are all over priced for the most part. Acceptable accommodations reasonably clean and a lot of choices for television. It had a microwave and refrigerator. The management was helpful and friendly but the facility is old. You do hear road noise and people walking by but I was very tired so I slept well on a comfortable bed. Great restaurant for breakfast just a block north (I think the Omlette House but not sure). Forget their "continental breakfast" with watery OJ and coffee. Good internet.

“Only stay if you have to”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2010

Swimming pool in the a building in the car park - did not look inviting after seeing the room & its carpet.

Close to 101 and cross streets - very noisy all night

Room was not very good and breakfast was best described as "Don't bother - find somewhere else to eat" (We went to the Victoria Inn in Ferndale where we should have stayed)

“Cheapest in Eureka - so what do you expect it to be?”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2010

I have stayed in several motels in Eureka and Arcata and in season they are all way overpriced - I guess they all want to make up for the lousy winter season they have. The proprietor tries to do what he can but when the property needs money for upkeep and you do not want to spend, so everything will be falling apart like in the place. The A/c in the room did not cool in the warm night and it helps to drown out the traffic noise as all motels in Eureka are bang on 101 fwy. The bed linen is lousy and you really want the night to be over so that you can get up without a skin rash. The breakfast consists of expired stuff from costco and one look at it and after tasting the bitter coffee, you want to run to the McDonalds next door, which is the only positive for this stay.

“Dingy Dank Dirty”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2010

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but for the life of me I can't understand how any positive reviews could be submiited to this site. The location is noisy and decrepid, the proprietor was sullen and unfriendly, the rooms were small and the kind where you just don't want to touch anything, the street life was "suspect" and a pizza box with full pizza was found under the stairway as if hobos were living there. It's just a nasty place. So stay away.
