“On a budget, it was great”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

SO much better than the America's Best Value in Portland, OR. The price was low and the lady at the front desk was very pleasant. The beds were firm but comfortable and I thought the room overall was pretty clean. The downside was that the water heater broke overnight and we had no hot water for showers in the morning. However, they did refund us a little money for the inconvenience. Also, I was bummed to find out that "continental breakfast" only meant coffee and muffins. Still, pretty good for a cheap hotel.

“OK room, decent price, nothing special for sure.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 October 2011

This was the third America's Best Value Inn I stayed in on my trip, and it was downhill from the beginning. The one in Ontario, Oregon was great, the one in Crescent City, CA was very nice but a bit older, and then this one: older, smaller rooms, not even a room to have breakfast in, just a few stools in the office, and no decaf. The woman had a hectoring way about her, calling my room to tell me I was parked incorrectly, taking issue with my sense of the charges, etc., and definitely not available in the morning. It was also a noisy street, but that's true of most motels in Eureka, so it doesn't distinguish this place. Overall, I can't complain, but I'm not sure I'll return again for the price.

“Don't even think about staying here”

Maybe my expectations are too high, but I consider this place a dump. People in the office barely speak English, the place is run down and located in a poor, lower class downtown area which I guess they call Old Town and the humans we saw walking around looked like derelicts and pan handlers. A man & woman stood on the sidewalk outside the bathroom window arguing and yelling vulgarities for 1/2 hr. just after I checked in. Also, don't think the motel looks like the picture you see. America's Best Value must use this picture for every motel, but the picture has no resemblance to this dump.

I can't say enough bad stuff about the place, except enter at your own peril. Everything appeared dirty (bedspread, carpet, chair) and of course there was hair on the bathroom floor from previous occupants and stool had to be flushed four or five times after each use. If my wife had been with me, we would have checked out immediately after entering this place. As it was, I felt lucky to get out of there with the car still parked where I left it and no bed bugs or other critters that I know of.

First we appreciate your comments. We are located in Downtown Eureka on the edge of old town which is a convenient location to shops and restaurants which are within walking distance. All of Eureka's Motel's and Hotel's are located along fourth st which is US 101 south or along fifth st. which is US 101 north. Which are the 2 main streets in Eureka. We have discussed the items you have pointed out with our housekeeping staff to make sure that these items are being addressed.

“Port in a Storm...”

After 8 hrs on the road and only halfway to my destination I decided to find a clean room with a TV, Bed & shower and hit it again in the A.M. I found a coupon for America's Best Value Inn. Found it in a dark, not so good neighborhood surrounded by Bail Bondsmen. Used a coupon and checked in. No one bed rooms left so I got a two bed room for the coupon price. The room was dated but clean.
Ten minutes after turning on the TV it went all red with no picture. Called the desk and was told no one was available to deal with it and was offered another room. After using a coupon and the toilet I did not feel like making them clean two rooms and ask if I could get a discount. 10% was offered and accepted. Traffic noise was so loud I had to close the window... Shower in the morning had to be "kick Started" as it did not turn on. Eventually got a shower and checked out. There was an old jetted tub which I did not use. Off street parking was nice and they did have WIFI. The bed was comfortable. There was a little fridge and a microwave. The room could use some paint. No A/C. Would I stay there again...I think not!!!

Room Tip: Try another more up to date hotel/motel.....PASS!

“Great place to stay”

While it is an older property, it is a nice place to stay while traveling. We travel alot and this motel had everything we needed. The staff was very pleasant. We will definitely stay there again.
