A buddy and I went out to California to watch some baseball, needed a place to stay that was reasonable and close to San Diego-watching Braves/Padres. This place was perfect, quiet, clean, friendly manager. We checked in REALLY late and had no problems, although I am sure they were not thrilled with us, still very friendly. Breakfast was a little weak, would have like a few more choices than packaged danishes and bread, also my buddy had to walk down the street to purchase milk, but really no complaints otherwise. Would reccommend for sure, also close walk to the beach, lots of locals surfing which was cool to watch.

We spent two nights at the Ocean Inn during a reunion in Encinitas. We got a good price of $89 per night, we were told due to a large cancellation.

The place is nothing fancy, but the rooms are very clean, a decent size, and the simple furniture and fixtures are in good shape. It also is right on 101 in Encinitas, so you're close to everything. An excellent location.

The wireless Internet worked great for the entire stay.

The "continental breakfast" is a bit of a stretch compared to most other hotel/motel fare. It's just coffee, juice, and toast and some wrapped commercial sweet cakes. in any case, we made use of the coffee and juice each morning.

Service was friendly and we enjoyed our stay. In this price range, it's a good choice for the Encinitas area.

I thought that I had got it wrong when I later noticed on the details that there wasn't a pool at the Ocean Inn. having booked spontaneously online for a Hotel near Legoland for my 9 year old daughter & myself & knowing how much she loves a dip, I wasn't sure if this was the right place for us. My fears were unfounded. Although the place is fairly old, it is in a great location. The rooms are clean & spacious with enough facilities for a families needs. The staff were very friendly & approachable. The local area has a good vibe, being a haven for surfers, bohemians & laid back folks of all ages. The meditation garden as recommended by the staff was a delight to see &experience. But I could stand on the cliffs & watch the surfers trying to catch that big wave forever. I want to go back already & show the rest of the family my discovery so that we can look around a bit more. Hoping to return.

This hotel is probably the best bet for the money for the Encinitas/Leucadia area, but it is not convenient to get back to the hotel once you leave. Hotel is located on a one-way street going south with an island in the middle, so you have to become familiar with the side streets quickly in order to come down the hill on the right street (Jasper?) to get back to the hotel. It is not an easy, short walk to the beach bluff from the hotel, and be prepared for lots of steps to reach the various beaches below. Coastal access is limited. We had a first floor end unit room. Quiet. Not a comfy bed, but the room has everything you need and is a good size for the money. The staff is friendly and helpful. Leucadia Bar is easy walking distance, as is a liquor store, donut shop and Just Peachy market. That's about it. Otherwise, hop in the car to Encinitas right down the road. And if you like Mexican food, Juanitas is pure local and yummy. For the money, a great stopover hotel.
