“Great Location, Great Rates, Great Service, Clean Beach Motel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 January 2012

This motel was in a great location, right on the 101. From this Motel you can drive in either direction on the 101 and enjoy the beautiful coastline and have numerous interesting spots to stop and enjoy. The motel is close to the beach, fun shopping and excellent restaurants with an easy walk to most. Rooms were clean and roomy with Refrigerator & microwave. There is a basic continental breakfast available in the morning. (Coffee, juice, bagels, oatmeal, & string cheese) Pet Friendly. We saw whales from one of the many vista points. If you stay in this area I highly recommend a drive out to Stone Brewery. Fun brewery with excellent restaurant and beautiful garden seating. I will be back!!

Room Tip: Most of Encinitas has train trucks running through, so we did hear train noise slightly but it did n...

“Motivated to recommend!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Realizing folks tend to be motivated to share reviews when things go badly, wanted to make sure my positive experience is heard. I tend to be skeptical (cynical?) when it comes to budget stays, and while NOT 5-star (nor expected), I must say, in "looking" for things to nit-pick, wasn't able to find much! Perhaps it was my early check-in, but in asking for specific room type, they happily complied/delivered: upstairs + away from most "traffic", my room was everything I needed — super-dark (even after sunrise), quiet, out of the way, lotsa hot water (great pressure), clean, cheap. Items NOT "bolted down" (like I've seen elsewhere), the TV family friendly (no "adult" fare—thank you!), the worst I can say is that the mattress quality wasn't that great. But it was ok-enough for the occasion, and I left w/out a single negative "vibe" or issue. Staff were friendlier than expected, too. I'm kinda amazed to be saying this, but this deserves a good recommendation!

Room Tip: Upstairs/north end: no one above + stairs (traffic!) to reception/check-in area are on opposite side...

“Fantastic Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

My husband and I frequent EconoLodge to simply get away. We actually stay in our room the entire stay and are met with warmth from the front office with every stay. Gavin is superb. A real people person, eager to please. Professional demeanor and pleasant person. We enjoy the area should we get cabin fever. There is reasonable good eats all around and the ocean a few blocks away. There is a market on the weekends right across the street. We have tried other places and have always come back to EconoLodge in Encinitas. We have always been satisfied and as I stated - Gavin is the BEST!

Room Tip: Book early - this is no secret. This is a really great deal!

Dear Guests

We are very proud and happy to know that you appreciate all the efforts that our dear staffs are giving just to ensure that guests are comfortable during their stay. One of our goals is to let our guests feel that they are still at home away from home. And of course, aside from the fact that Econo Lodge Encinitas is located in a perfect and ideal place, nothing beats that more. All of us, most especially Gavin is looking forward to serve you again in the future.

“A little above average for a beach motel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2011

I'm all about context. When you stay in a budget motel at the beach if you get clean and functional, you have about all you should expect. Econo Lodge fills the bill perfectly.

Check in was easy. Staff helpful. Room was clean and safe. No frills. The shower was a typical California eco drip. Had to ask for help to get it to work- just didn't want to pull the knob off and found out you had to go down that road to get it to work. But staff was very helpful and polite, came to the room to show the "pull"- a real positive for the place.

Breakfast was standard econo hotel coffee, bananas, bagels and toast- quality was pretty good, but if you are in Encinitas what the heck are you eating a motel for anyway? There are 50 great breakfast places within two miles.

Stayed on a Thursday and Friday, noise and guest were a non factor. Liquor store just to the south, sub shop just to the north were good stops- If you are in Encinitas, explore, ask the locals, do not do the national chains.

“Gavin is the Man!”

It's not rocket science. Gavin calmly delivers good value, and so keeps this place pretty full. He is a hands on operator- and all guests benefit from competent management. We will return.
