“Ask for Denise S”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2010

We stayed here for a fourth year, this time our 30th anniversary. I had cracked ribs on both sides, very uncomfortable. We were given a 3rd floor room, moved to the 2nd to avoid some stairs. First night our neighbor above us on the 3rd floor sounded like a large male. He clomped back and forth from the fridge to his hot tub, had the tub running until 2 in the morning, so I couldn't sleep well. At 4 I woke up to water pouring into our hot tub. Called mgmt, didn't seem concerned. Spoke to someone else in the morn, not concerned. Later got Denise S who moved us to the best room with a great hot tub. The beds are great! Great prices and Denise was the best!!! Will stay again.

“Excellent location, good value, great staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 August 2009

After readubg several reviews of lodging facilities in the Encinitas area, we chose the Quality Inn, North Coast. This was a good decision. The location is close to the beach, nearby the downtown area, and very condusive for bicycle riding. The room rates are reasonable for this area. The room was adequate, the facility very well maintained, and the staff very friendly and helpful. The building maintenance supervisor allowed us to keep our bicycles in his storage room.
Some of the parking stalls are not designed for large vehicles, but I was able to park a Toyota RAV4 fairly easily. There are a few larger spaces on the property which were being used by other guests.
I would not hesitate to reccomend The Quality Inn, North Coast for lodging in the Encinitas area.

“Don't stay here!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2009

My fiance and I planned on staying at the Quality Inn & Suites North Coast in early June after driving from Albuquerque, NM. Our room was horrible. There was a strong odor of cat urine, there were mosiquitos in the room, the carpet was damp, and there was an extremely loud rock concert at the adjacent bar/grill that played well past 1100pm. We didn't feel comfortable staying there and informed the night watch at the reception desk. We then followed up with the hotel manager, explained to him our situation and that we did not stay the night and were still charged over $80 for the night. Despite the place being located close to the beach and there being a pool, this place is not suitable for anyone in my opinion due to the lack of quality, proximity to a live band concert bar, and a staff that is unwilling to meet their customers needs.

“Economy & convenience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 February 2009

(We stayed here when it was still Portofino Beach Inn) LIKED: Low-cost Queen bed room; short drive to I-5, Encinitas Village, & Rancho Santa Fe; very clean bathroom (with soaps, shampoos & lotion provided); breakfast included from 7-9 AM (juice; coffee; English muffins; toast; cold cereals; assorted fresh Danish pastries & muffins, plus apples ... all restocked as needed by attentive desk staff); cable TV with remote control; all staff very helpful.

DISLIKED: The neighborhood's ambient noise level was a bit high all night, partly due to music and loud partying in nearby buildings (we happened to be there during what was Spring Break for many college students) & partly from several railroad trains passing by right across the highway from the inn. Also, the network of metal "rebars" within the walls & floors of this older stucco structure transmitted vibrations from other guests simply walking normally (not stomping) up or down the exterior steps and merely closing (not slamming) the doors to their rooms or bathrooms. These vibrations carried into our own room, rattling the window or sounding as though our wall had been hit with a hammer.

Other reviewers have mentioned that some of the parking spaces are a tight squeeze, however they do offer about a dozen standard spaces, some at the front and some at the back of the inn. Also, please note that some of the more numerous spaces (which are located between posts) are a bit wider than others and offer [slightly] more room to maneuver.
