It is better than camping, but the staff is not friendly, guessing it is because they have to micromanage all the rules, very strict letter of the law kind of place, very poor bed quality. There are not lots af choices in this area, so the location is its only draw.

everything was great here, but the beds were like motel 6 beds not worth the money spent, gets a one star because if you can't sleep at night it doesn't matter where you are, you feel like crap the next day.

If you're looking for a great place to relax this is it. Kick back and watch the ocean, sufers, pelicans, dolphins etc. and relax by the pool or take a walk on the beach. But if your looking for the amentities of a hotel this ISN'T it. It's a small 36 unit time share complex. No restrurant on the grounds but 8 - 10 good ones within 4 blocks. This is a perfect place to relax and enjoy yourself. The 1 & 2-bdm "bluff" units are the best but the Studio units are too small and hot in the summer. All have kitchens and there are BBQ's by the pool. There are the trains that go by (10-13 a day) that take a day to get used to but it is a small inconvenience in the overall picture. Maid service is twice a week or available daily for an extra charge. Leave the long pants at home.

We keep coming back to Wavecrest year after year and find something new to love each time. These units have a million dollar location overlooking the Pacific and within an easy walk to the delights of Del Mar and the beach. If you are lucky, you will get a one or two bedroom unit directly on the bluff over the ocean.
Even if you book a studio, it is just steps to the pool which has wonderful views. You really can't go wrong!
