I selected this hotel for its convenient access to highway 280 (couple of blocks away), which makes it a good base to cover the southern half of the SF peninsula, as northbound traffic is almost always fluid.
It doesn't hurt that the hotel itself offers excellent value, with large comfortable rooms in a well-maintained, typical California low-rise structure. This made the wait for elevators commendably short. While a bit dark, my rear-facing room was quiet and had all the amenities I needed, such as fast internet access and clean iron/ironing board. The shower curtain was clean.
Breakfast was included in my promotional rate, which made it all the more palatable; it had enough healthy options (juice, fruit, cereals).
The parking lot is correctly sized for the property, was well-lit, and felt safe, an important consideration for women travelers.

Not surprising as we love Hilton Garden Inns - a terrific spot.

I got in early and there was no problem checking into my room - even at 9 AM! A big bowl of fresh fruit and Starbucks coffee all day makes it feel like home. The waitress at breakfast was cheerful and efficient despite having to deal with sticking waffle makers and a lot of guests. The location couldn't have been more convenient for exploring both San Jose and San Fran - right by the highway, but far enough away to be quiet.

Very happy with our stay and will definitely return.

The HGI was fairly easy to find. It was fresh & well-appointed. We were on the 3rd floor which is not a plus for my older husband. The room was fine along with the Internet, TV and nice beds. We did not appreciate the cost for our breakfast of $12.95 each. We prefer the breakfast to be included in the room rate. The breakfast was a cut above most and there was a server/assistant who had to be tipped. You filled your own plate from a buffet stand. With the tip the cost was over $30.

Spend a night with wife and 2 kids on the way to Pacific Coast highway.
Generally speaking very comfortable and cosy hotel.
Most comfortable bed I have slept on for this USA trip!
Nearby has supermarket and eateries.
However, do ask for a room facing away from the main road; can be noisy early in the morning.
Not cheap. Cost almost US300 for one room with 2 queen beds.
