“Loyal”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

My wife and I have found this inn to be just as advertised "Comfort". For the past five (5) years we have enjoyed the pleasent response to our arrival. While they do not remember the name, we are always greeted with "Welome Back". The owner and staff have gone to great length to maintain the intergerity of this inn. Clean, easy walking to various stores. Pleasent staff. Grounds that are kept by a grounds keeper that even remembered us. Thank you for all the wonderful enjoyment that your inn has brought to us. Including the price. Rooms/Pool/Grounds are always kept up to a clean and safe enviorment.

“Well maintained and remodeled in Costa Mesa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

I asked to check it early and was welcomed at 11AM before going to an appointment. The clerk and owner made sure I was checked in and comfortable in my room. I was surprised, based on the outside, to see the room was recently remodeled, with a new bed, a flat screen TV, refrigerator, and a microwave. I have seen similar properties where the owner tried to squeeze every penny from the property without spending a dime. I can tell the management and staff have pride in the property. The rate will surprise you too!

Room Tip: I had a king room upstairs in the back. It was quiet!

“Our 3rd time staying here; it's our "go to" hotel when we visit Newport Beach!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

****Bottom line review:
We've stayed at this Comfort Inn 3x total, and the front desk staff and crew are very nice, accommodating and friendly. Two weeks ago, we drove up on Saturday morning and decided it wouldn't hurt to ask if we could check in early--they let us check in at 10 am and were very friendly about it, going out of their way to make us happy. They have the typical free breakfast in the morning (cereal, pastries, MAKE-YOUR-OWN WAFFLES!!!, and alas, crappy coffee) and on our last stay, they had sausage patties and scrambled eggs too that weren't too bad.

There is a decent sized pool and jacuzzi spa, but we've never used either since most of our time in that area is spent near the beach at Newport.

It's definitely a decent place to stay if you're on a budget or want to save your money for other things (like renting bikes or parking meters...). They do honor the AAA discount.

No restaurant or kids' activities. Just your typical, nice, soft on the budget Comfort Inn.

****If you want to read on, here's my story:
We first stayed here back in June of '08 when my husband and I decided to be spontaneous and drive "north" from San Diego, and have a weekend adventure one Friday night. We stopped in San Juan Capistrano, and as beautiful as it is there, we decided we needed a little more "excitement" (like riding bikes or eating unhealthy fair food, haha), so we got back on the 405 and ended up on the 55 South. Neither of us had ever been to Newport Beach or that area, so we drove down to the peninsula to see what the scoop was and decided it would be fun to rent bikes on Saturday. We had no clue where we were (no smart phones or nav devices on that trip), so we stopped at every hotel that looked safe to check out rates. We played a little game of setting a budget and found this gem at under the price we set. It was humble but clean and we felt safe, and it is easily accessible from the 55 freeway (it's very close to the OC Fairgrounds).

That night we walked to a strip mall a block or two away and found a semi-fancy Italian restaurant, good food, but I can't remember the name for the life of me (I swore that I saw Hugh Laurie sitting across from our table though! haha). We had such a great time on that little spontaneous trip that Newport Beach was forever burned in our memories as the place we would go to just "get out of SD" for a weekend to rest and enjoy the beach! (I know,.. why do that when SD has some GREAT beaches?... I guess sometimes you just need to be away from your town to decompress..) This Comfort Inn is a short drive from the heart of NB and it is the first place I check out when we plan to go up there.

Room Tip: We've always requested a king size bed and end up with a room on the quieter side (vs. the parki...

“Good overnight stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 May 2011

I choose this place based on previous reviews. The room was clean, staff friendly, good location, fair price, and a good breakfast. Only issue was that the coffee pot in our room had nor been cleaned . Otherwise a great place and true to previous positive reviews.

“Was kept up all night!”

Hotel was clean, and updated so on the surface pleasant. However staff need customer service skills training as very little attention to customer's needs were shown. Was given a room facing the parking lot even though requested to be on the other side of the building.

Cars were coming and going all night in the parking lot. Loud yelling and slamming of doors. Young guys sitting in their parked cars. Definitely something dangerous going on there. Would have been terrified if just a single person staying there or if I was a woman with a child.

Had about 2 hrs sleep that night and it cost me about $85.00. Will never ever stay there again. In fact, ruined my whole image of Los Angeles and Costa Mesa.
