Just spent about 4 days there for a work conference. I was a little skeptical as the previous Hilton's I've stayed at have left a lot to be desired. I'm happy to report this wasn't the case here. The management team here knows what they are doing.
First, the facility itself. It's easy to find off the freeway, but kind of a pain to get into if you're unaware that there is a side entrance that's easier to use then the main street one. I found it by mistake. The building is older, but it is very well taken care of. All the public facilities were clean and showed little signs of wear. The location is not far from retail and restaurants, so there is always some place you can run to if you need something. There is a McDonald's right across the street, so munchie runs are easy. This was a nice, corporate part of town.
The rooms themselves are pretty decent. Mine was clean when I got in, the mattress was nice and the amenities what was expected. The towels weren't bad. And the WI-FI was included in our group rate, or free if you're a Hilton Honors person or an ATT subscriber. Very nice - that set of qualifications probably covers a good portion of business travelers. Side note - they do charge for parking - $20/day, but it's SoCal, almost everyone charges for parking. The parking lot is clean and convenient, with stalls the actual size of cars, instead of the normal "no way even a Camry is fitting in that" stalls you find all over L.A. hotel lots. The TV was a flat panel with satellite. They had ESPN and the History chanel. Funny thing is, while those stations came in fine reception wise, the reception for the local stations was a bit fuzzy. Technology, it's great isn't it? I wish there was a better chair for the desk.
Lastly, the staff. The staff was GREAT. Wonderful people who were polite and helpful. The servers during our buffet lunches/breakfasts were always around ready to refill water or offer coffee. The desk people were very helpful and check in was a breeze. Everyone was super polite, and not in that "i have to be nice to you" way. Housekeeping did a great job. Even the people working in the parking lot booths were polite and helpful.
Overall, I was very impressed with this Hilton. Great service and a nice facility - all the things I always expected from Hilton's but haven't seen in a bit. Great job to the management and the staff.
Room Tip: All the rooms are pretty much the same. The "Executive" rooms aren't THAT much better...
