This is one of the best boutique hotels that my husband and I have visited. The original butler's suite has been transformed into a richly-appointed, fabulous accommodation. It is very spacious with high ceilings, a huge and luxurious king-sized bed, separate sitting/dining areas and a quaint modernized bathroom. There is ample closet space with a safe, and the old butler's kitchen has a working fridge. The suite even included a private patio with fountain, a great place for early morning breakfast or late night relaxing and reflection of one's day. The only thing I would suggest to Glorietta Bay is that they consider offering gourmet fare for breakfast, rather than the typical continental buffet of cereals, muffins, bagels & fruits that one can find in lesser-priced chain hotels. On the positive side, staying in a Mansion Suite offered us the option of having breakfast delivered to our room. Other than that, the Mansion offers its guests a chance to sleep in rooms fit for royalty, the staff was very friendly and helpful, the location great (just across the street from the beach and historic Hotel Del) and, once we figured out the local transportation system, it was easy to get back and forth from San Diego. We would absolutely stay in a Glorietta Bay Mansion Suite again!!! One more thing...enjoying the complimentary milk & freshly baked, warm cocolate chip cookies delivered to our room each evening was an added treat. And did I mention the tiny boxes of gourmet hand-made chocolates placed on our pillows each night? UmHmmm, we will definitely try to visit again!!!
