This hotel is located at an intersection of Interstate 5 that has an abundance of traveler services. I suspect the vast majority of guests are Interstate 5 travelers who stay only one night.
The Holiday Inn Express chain probably rates above average in terms of the quality of hotels and motels you find at such rural and small town freeway intersections.
Positives about this hotel:
* The hotel was modern, spacious, roomy, bright and airy.
* Very fast check-in; walked up to the desk, no line, gave my name, he had my room key and envelope ready to hand to me. Check-out was fast and easy too.
* Easy-off, easy-on relative to Interstate 5.
* Most importantly, the room was very clean and the bedding very comfortable.
* Adjacent to a McDonalds (can walk to it in 45 seconds)
Negatives about this hotel:
* As is typical with these kinds of hotels, in-room climate control is a challenge and is dependent on a noisy window unit. It was a very warm night; I got the room pleasantly cool for sleeping, but then woke up in the middle of the night freezing in the "humid coolness" the unit had created.
* I did not have any freeway noise from I-5, but from about 6 until 7 AM, there was a noisy idling truck somewhere in the vicinity. If you are noise-sensitive, you might do well to find a location a little farther from I-5 and its associated traffic and activity.
* TV channel selection was a little slight.
Neither Positive nor Negative:
* The breakfast buffet. Had the usual fabulous HI Express cinnamon rolls, and a good variety of offerings . . . 3 kinds of juice, single serve milk cartons, yogurt, instant oatmeal packets, coffee/ tea. The "hot" offering was a little disappointing . . .pre-fab American cheese heat-and-serve "omelets" and cheap sausage. Also would have liked more fresh fruit than a few over-ripe bananas. But, hey, the place ain't the Ritz Carlton.
* Fitness center and outdoor pool: it is nice that they have them . . . and they seemed to be clean and well-maintained, but neither was spacious.
Overall, this property plenty good for an overnight rest while traveling Interstate 5.
