We just got back from a road trip to southern California, we booked all our hotels in advance (when we reserved this room we were told that it was a suite with 2 queen beds and a sofa bed, which we needed) when we arrived for a late check in the desk clerk was with another customer, who seemed flustered, it took over 20 minutes for the clerk to get this one customer checked in. My husband checks us in and we get to our room, first we notice there is no sofa bed, then we notice they put us in a smoking room (which we also requested non smoking). My husband goes down and tries to get things straightened out, the clerk is very rude and clueless, his main excuse is that he has only been there 4 months and doesn't know what style rooms they have. But, another employee will be there soon and we can deal with them. When that employee arrives they are just as rude and tells us they don't have any rooms that have sofa beds and that we must have made out reservations through central booking (we always call the hotel directly to book). After 45 minutes of dealing with these people, we finally insisted that they give us a rollaway for no charge (horrible spring filled mattress, which we had to put an air mattress on to make it sleepable) and reduce our rate to a standard room rate, and we just had to deal with the smoking room as according to the clerk "we are full" and as it was now 12 AM and we were exhausted. We almost always stay at Holiday Inn Express when we travel, this is the worst experience we have had with them and will always check reviews in the future, even if it is just for a one night stay while travelling!

Thank you for your review. We apologize for the inconvenience you experienced during your most recent stay. Your booking was made through central reservations and they incorrectly informed you that our two bedded queen rooms had pull out sofas, only our king rooms have these. I have given my staff further training for these difficult situations. We encourage you to visit our hotel again for an improved experience.
