“Nice Place, Friendly Staff, Comfortable Beds”

I work down in Concord every week and spend at least three nights a week in the area. I've tried every hotel surrounding concord, holiday inns, marriott properties, hilton properties, etc, and the Crown Plaza is by far the best. What does it for me is the friendly staff, the best happy hour menu (and it healthy!), and the comfortable beds. After staying in so many hotels I've noticed that each one has it's eccentricities, so I won't berate the little flaws that this hotel has. I would highly recommend this place for a business trip or before a Cal football game.

What great comments coming from an experienced traveller. We appreciate that you recognize its not just about the facility, it is about the overall experience, atmosphere and comfort. We are happy to hear that we have created an enviroment and opportunity to make traveling an easy and enjoyable experience. We receive so many positive comments on our seven layers of comfort beds. Thye do make for a great nights sleep. During your next stay, please stop by the Administrative office we would love to thank you personally for your review and meet you in person.

“Worst hotel stay”

Well, where do I begin? My husband and I went on a trip to visit family in california with our 7 month old. We walked into this hotel to check in. It was a beautiful big lobby with beautiful koi fish ponds and a nice bar. We got our room key and went to the car to get our things. On the way to the room I noticed an odor of puke/siht that filled the halls. This should have tipped me off but I contined anyway. I got in the room and it was small and crowded the bathroom was so small I had to squeez inbetween the sink and door just to shut the door to use the toilet. I called the front desk to get a micro and fridge in our room ( I needed for babies formula and food) they claimed they didn't have any in the entire hotel. Room service was fast but one small burrito and a coffee.was $22 (just for me) I went to laurndry and the machines were old but I tried anyway. Put $2 in just to get laumdry soap and it was empty. I tried to get this refunded or get soap and they could not get either (thanks to whoever left the soap behind the washer) took two hours to dry each load. Was up, until 1am doing this. Front desk could not provide quarters for laundry. I had to go to the bar. Also asked for wash towels and front desk simply said "we do not have any" this was their response to everything. shower drain was clogged. I.could go on and on. The only good thing was the bed otherwise it was a terrible hotel, outdated, very dirty, noisey (planes going into the airport and vb parties in the rooms next door) and TERRIBLE customer service. I highly reccommend going somewhere else.

I sincerely apologize for the poor experience you discribed on your recent visit.
I know the demands of travel over long distances with small children and can understand your disappointment in unfulfilled requests for simple items and equipment to be in working order.
These are simple travel expectations and I am sorry we failed to deliver.
Our managment team and our staff take great pride in delivering regional and brand leading services which we did not demonstrate on this stay. This is not who we are and I know I speak for our staff when a say , we would hope for the opportunity on future visits to your family in our area to get a chance to show who we are.

We are currently mid phase in some exciting changes including a renovation of guest rooms and corridors and during your stay we had quite a bit of staining and paint work going on, which could account for any off odors. I make no excuse for the failure on basic services and will address as part of our Brand Hearted service committee meeting and reach resolve. I appreciate your comments as we can only get better when we see through the eyes of our guests. I would like the opportunity to meet and speak with you personally on your next visit.
Sincerely
L. Allyn Ross

“Lost its luster”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 January 2012

I stayed at the Crown Plaza for a bowl game in SF over the New Year. The property is large and a little worn out. Check in was fine and the room nothing to write home about. I stayed over New Years Eve (amateur night) and they had a nice New Year’s package of which I did not partake. Did see puke in the hallway the next day though which remained for the entire day.
There is an interesting Atrium with a meandering creek through it and a small pool and Jacuzzi.
Crown Plaza as a brand has lost its luster. I’ve stayed in several and they all seem to be skating along. At the end of the day the hotel suited my needs and nothing more. I would stay again in a pinch, it’s relatively convenient to restaurants and to BART to get into the SF proper.

“Would have been better suited anywhere but here.”

My son and I were flying into the Bay Area to visit family and friends, flying in from Denver, Colorado, a beautiful place with two feet of snow on the ground. I knew ahead of time that the most important thing in my son's eyes would be the pool of every location we stayed at on vacation.

I called the Crowne Plaza - Concord two weeks before our trip and was assured that the pool was going to be open and available during our scheduled stay. I was further assured that we would be able to get the rest in a peaceful setting that we were looking forward to.

When we arrived, the pool was half-drained. On day two of our stay, the pool was completely drained and would not be re-filled until we a few days after we left. In my son's eyes: unacceptable.

On our final day in the Crowne Plaza - Concord, we returned from a long day of hiking and family get-togethers to find the hotel over-taken by a roving group of collegiate basketball players (who decided the perfect place to play a "quick" game of pick-up basketball was in the room above ours). Throughout the evening and overnight, there was constant pounding on the doors of our floor with cat calls and bouncing balls. In my eyes: unacceptable.

When we checked out the following morning, I informed the front desk of my displeasure. The desk attendant was indifferent and told us that it was "too bad" that we did not enjoy our stay and brushed us out the door.

“Wonderful facility.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 January 2012

Many thanks to Alvin the desk manager and to the restaurant staff for making this a memorable stay. I was here for six nights attending an intense on-site training event along with about two dozen others. We were shown every courtesy.

Room Tip: Great beds, can't go wrong.
