We chose the Bungalow B and B simply because it was one of the few places sort of on the way to our next destination (we were en route to a highly- recommended old-style hot springs "spa" which turned out to be sulfurous New Age nightmare from which we had ample time to wistfully contemplate The Bungalow and its many charms), and it was the only place on which we took a chance without any reviews on Trip Advisor. It turned out to be one of the highlights of our vacation! Though The Bungalow itself is quietly luxurious, by which I mean extremely comfortable, beautiful and accommodating without being pretentious in any way, it is located in a working-class resort area where the attraction is the lake, and that's all. For us, after having just driven throught the hype and hubbub of Nappa Valley, this was an oasis! Don't expect fancy restuarants (though there are a couple of wineries nearby if you want more of that) or shops. The B and B itself, formerly an Arts and Crafts style dance hall, is the destination. Our room was lovely and spacious, and like one of the others, had a private deck surrounded by a rose garden with a path down to a tiny beach and the water. As appealing as this was, we were even more entrhalled by the very inviting outdoor living room and all the different sitting areas (on the deck in the sun, by the water in the shade, in the garden), each with a view of the lake. The innkeepers, Mike and Kathey, were most welcoming. They offered plenty of information - often with printed directions - about places to go (though there really wasn't much reson to leave that perfect spot). The huge breakfast was delicious, and our only regret was not having booked a longer stay. There are just three guest rooms at The Bungalow, and they seem to get booked up quickly. While I hope this review adds to their well-deserved success, I also hope we'll be able to get a reservation when we want to go back!
