We've stayed at the Hotel Claremont two or three times and my parents and friends of ours have stayed there.
We must have had the same room-with-the-cigarette-burn-in-the-comforter as another reviewer: my feeling was that I was in a not entirely unpleasant 1980s time-warp. Our room (friends' and parents' rooms) has been spotless. (That would add up to either four or five separate rooms "rented".)
The people we've encountered there have been people going to dog shows and parents of college students at one of the Claremont colleges: a frugal, fairly intellectual crowd.
As another reviewer said, it's easy to get in and out. They have a simple, snack-type breakfast. Wi-Fi (be sure to ask for the code when you check-in....and it seems like I remember that every computer has to have a different number).
Basically, it's a clean and convenient place to sleep for the night.
