This is by FAR the worst stay I have ever had with any hotel. I travel quite a bit for my profession, and this time I was traveling for my own wedding so I decided to save some money and stay at the vagabond inn in Chico.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone besides drug dealers, prostitutes and low lives!!!
They ruined what should have been the best day of my life because the room was FILTHY and they could not get their tenants under control. They FINALLY called the police after 5:45am after I repeatedly called the front desk. And this was the 3rd night in a row of having to call the front desk. They would allow large parties of at least 25-30 people in each room doing drugs and underage drinking (I even heard teenage girls laughing about that part right outside my door!) and all they could tell me when I called was "That is the chance you take when you stay at a hotel downtown." If I would have known that this hotel was so ghetto then I would have stayed somewhere else. I am not a partier, and expected my stay to be pleasant. This was supposed to be my home away from home, but instead I got zero sleep (45 mins the night before my wedding) and nothing but RUDE responses from the front desk.
Then upon check out the on-site person was refusing to honor my “stay for 9 nights and get the 10th night free” policy. This girl Ashlee was one of the RUDEST people that I have EVER encountered with hospitality management!!!!!!!!! I told her that there was no way with the horrible stay that I had experienced that I would leave paying full price. After about five minutes of dealing with her horrible attitude she finally yelled at me to hold on and started throwing stuff around the office, slamming her keyboard and mouse, and then as people called the front desk she would answer the phone incredibly rude and slam the phone down. After all this she only managed to work in approx $14 worth of a discount. I was so mad at this point any kind of a discount is better than none, so I took it and was getting ready to walk out when Ashlee felt it necessary to guilt trip me and say “Well, thanks… cause’ I am probably gonna lose my job now and not be able to pay for college!” I came right back in and gave her a piece of my mind. It is NOT your customer’s responsibility to pay for your college education! It is your own responsibility to be respectful enough to your customers in order to keep your job! I paid for my college experience… and I did it by being nice to my customers. Especially when you work in hospitality management… it is YOUR job to keep your customers happy.
My room stunk… the floor was soooo dirty it turned my slippers black, and the kitchenette looked like someone had not cleaned it in a year! The room was dirty, smelly and sticky! Looked like someone vomitted or poured blood down the side of the bed!!!! The management was rude, the guests loud and obnoxious… NEVER AGAIN WILL I PAY TO HAVE SUCH A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! I was promised some kind of discount, but that will probably never happen. They have taken my money and expect that they will never have to hear from me again!
I was going to stay again for another 10 days at Christmas… but never again. I will pay much more for better service, and will advise everyone I know never to use this establishment again!
