Everything was perfect! The Bidwell House is truely a Wonderful Old House with Innkeepers/Owners that were truely welcoming. Our room was so comfortable and romantic. Every detail was true to this area and its time. Breakfast was excellect for the big eater and the fussy little eater.
We arrived on our motorcycles and we're treated as welcome and honored guests. That does not always happen with our bikes. We are not "biker" by any means but still....
I hesitate to recommend The Bidwell because I wish to keep it untouched or unchanged, but I so much enjoyed it that I had too share it.

We stayed in the Meadow View room (I think!)...very large room with huge king bed that was super comfortable. The bathroom was also large with a nice jacuzzi tub. Very quiet. Breakfast was bountiful and tasty. You certainly won't go hungry here! The inn is run by a young European couple who are the hardest working duo I've met. They run the BandB and also the Red Onion restaurant in town...excellent food and really the only game in town for dinner. Plus, they have two young boys! Eva and Phillip are gracious and caring and make it all look easy. What I loved most about this inn is the very large living room with super comfortable couches and chairs. Most nights they had a roaring fire which was nice to sit beside and read. Very child friendly with lots of games. The location has great access to the Warner Valley/Drakesbad area of Lassen and Chester seems to be a gateway. There is not much to Chester, but the location is great for hiking Lassen and Lake Almanor. They have a lot of weddings in the summer, apparently. We sure enjoyed our stay and know Eva and Phillip have added a lot to the town of Chester. Very well run inn and Red Onion restaurant.

We enjoyed our stay here on a recent road trip. It's obvious that the innkeepers/owners pay attention to details. The room, the Garden Room, was large and well appointed. Breakfast was fresh, nicely served, and the coffee was good! Most places really mess up the coffee, not this one. I think travelers with older children would like this inn becuase there is a grassy area that would be good for outdoor play. There is a spacious public space with fireplace and plenty of reading material.
This is a welcoming and well managed place. Good vibes in all respects!

My husband and I recently stayed for two night's at Bidwell House B&B. It's a charming place, filled with antiques, books, movies and games for all to peruse. The staff are all very welcoming and helpful with all questions. The 3 course breakfasts are excellent with great individual attention from the staff. The yard and porch are a wonderful place to sit and take in the slower paced lifestyle. You can see a corner of Lake Almanor from the front porch and there are a variety of seating arrangements, including a hanging swing for two to make oneself comfortable on.

The one negative was that our downstairs room was rather dark and chilly and whenever the people above us used their bathroom it sounded like the water was coming directly into our room. If I were to return I would choose an upstairs room both for taking advantage of the light and warmth and so that running water wouldn't wake me during the night.
