“A fabulous little escape for us!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

My husband's birthday was Saturday and a LivingSocial Escape for On The Beach B&B came out on Thursday. I thought for sure it would be booked up but was thrilled to make it all come together for a little surprise birthday present (we actually stayed Sunday night). Our room was GORGEOUS!! I had had a choice of a full-ocean view with two queens or a partial-ocean with a king (my choice). The room was beautiful...large, comfortable, clean...perfect! We did some wine tasting before check-in, then got settled in our room in time for their social hour and sunset. We walked to Schooner's Wharf for dinner. In the morning we had coffee and some yogurt and granola during the pre-breakfast hour and then sat in the hot tub for a while enjoying the beach view...then back downstairs for a lovely "brunch" (they serve breakfast until 11am) before checking out.

I'm sure the summer experience would be a lot different, but we just really enjoyed the quiet atmosphere of a beach town in winter...we cruised the antique malls and shops along the main drag and then headed home (just 2 hours).

We would definitely go back to On The Beach if given the opportunity. The LivingSocial certificate made it affordable for us, which I am not sure it would be under normal circumstances, and we would love to do it again sometime!!

Room Tip: If you want to be near the food for social hour and breakfast then a ground floor room is nice!

“On the Beach - on the ball!”

Cayucos is a real find and 'On the Beach' is at its very heart! If you are travelling by road between LA and San Francisco, or anywhere else in central California, it's well worth a detour and a stopover. The location is literally on the beach right next to the Pacific Ocean - where the signature sunsets behind the pier are worth paying the money. Not cheap, but offering superb quality and a genuinely warm welcome from the staff; the wonderfully quaint and superbly styled rooms are spacious and come complete with cosy fireplaces, and a daily manager's 'get together' for guests features home-made canapes and excellent, locally produced wines and cheeses. Cooked breakfast 'American style' is included along with free garage parking. We hope we get the chance to go back again and cannot recommend it highly enough. Note: eat at nearby Hoppes Bistro - 100% amazing menu and wine list.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back with sunsets and ocean views to die for.

“Fantastic place to stay!!”

I can not believe some of the negative reviews I've read about "On The Beach".
We've been making this beautiful establishment our Thanksgiving get away for the past 4 years.
I can't begin to express our continued delight with "On The Beach".
First and foremost the staff is fantastic! They're the most pleasant, personable and professional group of young women who go out of their way to make one feel welcome.
The rooms are large, super clean, and tastefully decorated.
The sound of the tumbling surf never fails to lull me to sleep.
The breakfast offerings are to die for.
Each morning bring a new masterfully
prepared surprise to bring your test buds to life.
Wine is poured freely along with tasty
snack every afternoon in the common area. It alway provided a great opportunity to meet fellow guests
and share travel adventures.
It's nice to see some of the same returning guest year to year.
I strongly recommend you give "On The Beach" your consideration if your travel
take you to the beautiful central California coast.

“The B& B was great”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 November 2011

The room was adorable, all the bells and whistles. The happy hour had great food not just snacky stuff. then later in the evening there was freshly made desserts. yummy. and the wine was not cheap. i stayed in a hotel in San Francisco that served $1.99 wine for happy hour. I know my wines. This hotel uses local and good wines for happy hour.
The breakfast was more than you could ask for. from 8 to 9am there was coffee, tea, juice, and rolls and then from 9 to 10:30 a full breakfast that the young ladies who cooked it served us. wonderful staff of young people.I was impressed. . The hotel is near the pier where cars drive & people walk on the sidewalk outside to the pier. We were surprised that we did not hear any loud or annoying noises. would love to return soon. love Cayucos..

Room Tip: The queen bed felt like a standard but we managed to sleep well enough

“What a gem!”

My sister and I called in at random for one night on our way form Los Angeles to San Francisco and for $175 got a beautiful massive twin room overlooking the sea complete with jacuzzi bath and heated towels and robes. Breakfast is gravy and biscuits, fresh fruit and yogurt and was great. Perfect for families, couples and young and not so young alike. The team make you feel at home and it was such a clean pretty place to stay. We loved it!
