First off, we’ve stayed at a few Quality Inns and this is by far the worst. One could use the Ventura Ca. Quality Inn as a benchmark for how to run and upkeep a property. That being said, Cathedral City has had to battle the reputation of being the "slum" area of Palm Springs for years, and this motel really delivers that feel. Where to start? How about the stained sofa in the front room, Or the VCR player connected to the old style TV. When was the last time you rented a VCR? DVD players too pricey for this place? And that really is the problem. The whole feel of this room was the owner is not spending a penny more than what is absolutely necessary on the guests. Need another king size suite? Just swap out the bed! No matter that the bedroom door no longer closes properly (it hit the foot of the bed). Don’t bother replacing the headboard, who cares what it looks like? This is Cathedral City after all. Swap out the TV in the bedroom, but just reuse the old wall mount, even though it’s way too big. Some things they have no control over like the views from the balconies, RV park in back, used car lots in front. But other things, like having the elevator permits up to date, should be taken care of. Palm Springs is on a major fault line. A properly inspected elevator is pretty important in that respect. Overall, this Quality Inn reminds you that you are staying in Cathedral City at every turn. And that is unfair to the city.
