We stayed at the Doral Desert Princess for 3 nights while attending the Stagecoach Music Festival in Indio. The rooms were pretty standard- had we been looking for anything other than a clean shower/clean sheets or paid more that the $115 rate we found through Expedia, we most likely would have been disappointed. Location was within 10 minutes of downtown Palm Springs/Restaurant Row, but 30 minutes from Coachcella and/or Stagecoach. Had breakfast at the hotel restaurant, Fairway Grill, where service was great but food and price definately sub-par.

Located in the older fringe areas of the Palm Springs. this very clean, contemporary facility (25 yrs. old) is adjacent to a semi-private golf course. This a very convenient, quiet and relaxing hotel for those looking for some golfing and spending time around an excellent pool area. The hotel is across the street from some basic shopping facilities, coffee shops, etc. The main high end shopping, restaurants, tourist attractions, etc. are about 10 to 15 minutes away. The main interstate highway is 5 minutes away. We only had breakfast at the excellent terrace cafe overlooking Dessert Princess golf course and the famous Mount San Jacinto to the west.

This was my second stay at the Doral. I was as pleased this time as I was with my first visit. The room was large, everything worked, the balcony overlooked the golf course, and it was quiet. The grounds are very well-kept. The facility is very clean. Satff are very friendly and helpful. My only suggestion is to avoid the restaurant - overpriced food that's at best mediocre. The hotel seems to gush over its food/restaurants, but don't be taken-in by the hype. There are lots of other choices within a short drive. There's a Sarbucks across the street. Fast-food places are within walking distance. The same goes for a supermarket that has a deli counter. Rooms are equipped with a small fridge that accommodates food and drink. Be warned: They tack on a $15 daily resort fee. Bottom line: go for the hotel, not the food.

After reading the reviews for this hotel, I was a bit concerned. However, we booked this hotel on priceline for a reasonabl price, and found the hotel nice and the grounds were gorgeous. The room was spacious, with nice amenties (bath & body works), and the view we had of the mountains and golf course/pool was breathtaking. The room had some "tired" fixtures, etc, but everything was clean and it just seemed that it might be older than some. The flavored water down in the lobby was very yummy and the hotel is quiet with pleasant staff. My husband and I would definitely return to this hotel. It is in Cathedral City, a ways from Palm Springs, so there isn't a lot of restaurants around, but it is easy enough to drive into Palm Springs or elsewhere if you have a car. The pool area was also very nice. FYI, there is a $15 resort fee, for things that might typically be free at a hotel, but it does cover valet parking and in/out priviledges.

  • Liked — the breathtaking view
  • Disliked — resort fee? location?

Excellent 3 star hotel. My wife and young children loved our stay. It was quiet, clean and courteous. However, be prepared to pay an extra $15 fee a night if you booked on Priceline. The price for the hotel was nice on Priceline and the attendant waved the $20/ night fee for the pullout bed we needed. We really enjoyed the large heated pool and two hot tubs when it wasn't littered with duck poop. I felt bad for this hotel because they have an epidemic situation with ducks who love to swim and poop in their pools, and they don't know how to get rid of them. They have a recording of a suffering bird that plays every 10 or so minutes, but the ducks know it's boggus.

  • Liked — comfortable beds and good service.
  • Disliked — duck poop in the pools.
