Booked through Priceline and was really excited to visit Santa Barbara however a family emergency came up. Although I knew Priceline “Name your price” policy, I figured I would call and give it a shot and ask for a refund and much to my surprise they said yes! Priceline said they have to verify the information I provided and contact the hotel regarding the refund. They said that it shouldn’t be a problem and all hotels agree to the refund. After a long process, Best Western was the one to deny my refund stating that, at first, I used the reservation (WRONG! I asked Priceline to ask Best Western for proof of checkin!) then after no proof, citing that the reservation date has passed!
I thought that Priceline would be the unpleasant one to work with but they actually have been really great and supportive about the refund and sadly it was the hotel that wouldn’t issue the refund for me. I understand the policy (reason for 2 stars instead of 1 star) however if Priceline is willing to give me a refund, I don’t understand why Best Western couldn’t have been as supportive and understanding!!
This tells me a lot about the customer service and business practice!
