“Casual, comfortable, realxed”

Most of the reviews pretty much describe my experience. Loved the 60's feel of the property and furnishings. Terrific location - just far enough from Carmel, but very convenient to a lot. The dogs loved it! Garland Ranch Park is nearby and is great for the dogs but it gets very busy very early. Laptop etc Users Note: the patio room we had did not have an outlet for 3-prong electrical device so you may want to bring an adaptor plug or two (the front desk graciously loaned us two). Patio room was very nice - cozy and very private patio area with sliding panels that can be closed off or opened up - perfect for sunbathing. The beds are small though. The grounds are small and tidy, and the beautiful oak trees are gorgeous. Was glad we had a kitchen as there didn't seem to be anywhere close by open for breakfast.

Years ago I stayed here. The room was nice and the location is very peaceful. Definitely would recommend the location.

“A lovely and relaxing place to stay”

We decided to stay here last minute when driving through Carmel Valley and we enjoyed it so much we stayed an extra night to take advantage of some wine tasting and the pool set in lovely grounds.

The whole of Blue Sky has a funky 1950/60s vibe in the decor and architecture which some may think dates the accommodations, for us it just added to the pleasure of staying here. Our room was clean, large and quiet, with a nice balcony with loungers. The pool and grounds are great for spending a few hours on the lounger reading, in between flopping into the pool to cool off.

All together a great place to stay and from which to explore the valley and a short walk to most of the wine tasting places in the village.

“Good Deal”

Wish we had more time to explore Carmel, but we were on a tight timeframe. The value and convenience of this lodge was great. It felt like we had gone back in time, but in a good way! We love the fact that it is family owned and that they still had alll the guest registration cards from way back when. The room was comfortable and clean, definately worth the price.

“Peaceful and relaxing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

The reason I booked this place is because they allowed me to bring my dog, who goes everywhere with me. I stayed in one of the suites, which is not on the main lodge property but very close on Via Contenta St. The suite had a private front yard, private but small back yard/patio, two bedrooms, kitchen, and living room. The suites do not have wi-fi. Carmel Valley is beautiful, w/rolling hills, vineyards, and abundant sunshine, unlike Carmel, which is often overcast and very cool. The weather was in the 70's, and I was able to walk in five minutes to numerous shops and decent restaurants. I liked the Wild Goose Bakery, the Village Fish House (across from Wild Goose), and Toast. Garland Ranch Park nearby is also beautiful for walks with your dog, as is the old air field up the street on Flight Rd (you just walk past Blue Sky and there is a wide gate to your left).

The accomodations were lived in and homey. Old carpet, frumpy sofas, 50's kitchen appliances, etc. just like others said. That didn't bother me at all. The fireplace is a nice plus, but doesn't have gas so you have to start it the old fashioned way. If the Valley gets warm, there is no AC. The bathroom was decent, but the toilet niche was very small, and I'm a big guy. But in spite of these things, I must say that I had an absolutely wonderful and relaxing time. Lots of fresh air and sitting in my front lawn was out of some kind of postcard of idealic vacations. I absolutely hate the closed-in, claustro feeling of most hotels. Read lots and even walked to the Lodge to spend a long time at the pool (which is heated). Since it is the country, bring bug spray if you plan to sit out amongst the beautiful landscaping.

The best part is the staff. I am not an easy client to please, and they were the kindest people who truly care for their patrons. Say what you want about the outdated furnishings, but don't bad mouth the owners and the staff. They are great people.
