“cute little motel, very central, with fire place and great complimentary offerings”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

Like most motels and lodges, offered a clean room, not quite new- but with some additions that we thought is worth a 5* - Fireplace- loved that, really kept room warm, and was very cosy. Breakfast with quiche, granola, oats and fresh fruit, a bit more offered than average motels. Free coffee and tea and homemade cookies all day, Wine and snacks in the afternoon and sherry and cookies in the evening.

Very friendly staff, very service oriented and made us feel welcome, any requests were answered with the extra smile, so we totally recommend this little place if you visit Carmel.

Room Tip: the rooms are a bit older, quaint and cute and just suits the place.

“Nice escape near the ocean”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 January 2012

We spent two nights in early December of 2011. Our room was comfortable with a fireplace and sitting area. We were treated well with an excellent breakfast and wine and hdourves each day. The common area lobby where food and wine were made available allowed us to meet several other couples and enjoy nice visits. The Cobblestone's location makes it easy to walk to the ocean, shops and restaurants. You don't need a car once you arrive but be aware parking is limited to about four spaces on the property but street parking is still available.

The room was nice and quiet except for an ice machine that made noise every few hours while we were sleeping in room 3.

Room Tip: Ask for room away from ice machine

“Great Visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

My husband and I just returned from a 2 night stay with a LivingSocial coupon. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and accomodating and even provided champagne for us when they found out it was our anniversary.

The main sitting room was lovely and clean and it was nice to have coffee and cookies available all day. Our downstairs queen room was very clean and comfortable. They have a lovely patio and if the weather was warmer, we would have sat outside. The breakfast was nice with plenty of different options and the afternoon wine and snacks were an unexpected treat. Even though there are only 4 parking spots, we had no trouble parking there or on the street. We weren't bothered by car noises either. This inn was very close to shopping and restaurants. My only recommendations would be to upgrade the TVs and mount them on the wall and get better hair dryers.

We would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: Get a ground floor room at the back.

“Very Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 December 2011

We had been looking forward to staying at the Cobblestone Inn for quite some time and wow were we disappointed. Our stay was just for one night, 12/2/11. We stayed in Room 6 which is apparently right above the wash room. After our arrival, we were sitting in front of the fire enjoying a glass of wine and the entire room started to shake. This went on for about 20 minutes until the innkeeper arrived. It turns out they were doing laundry downstairs and "it was just about finished". Once it was, the noise stopped. The rest of the day was pretty uneventful until the evening. Apparently the heaters are not turned on at night because of the terrible noise they made. We thought perhaps the fire would keep us warm but, we were WRONG. As long as we stayed in bed we were fine. We walked around the room in our wool coats. We called the front desk and was eventually provided with a space heater. Unfortunately, that didn't cover the entire room and it made showering very inconvenient. The room was $280.00 per night which, in our opinion was a terrible waste of money. Upon checkout we advised the innkeeper of our dissatisfaction and she advised she would let the manager know and "someone would be in contact with us". As I write this on December 27th, I have yet to hear from them. Bottom line, maybe a trip during the summer would be much better.

Room Tip: Stay away from Room 6.

“A Story Book Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 December 2011

We stayed here for one night mid-December. After we booked, we were disheartened by some of the poor reviews we read on this site but we were more than happy with our experience once we arrived. The staff were all particularly friendly and the room very comfortable. The place is decorated in a quaint style (lots of florals) which may not be to everyone's taste but we enjoyed the story book charm. Wine and nibbles are served in the lounge in the early evening and we enjoyed sitting by the roaring fire (and Christmas tree) reading our books for a few hours. Probably not a good choice if you are looking for somewhere with an active nightlife but great for a relaxing break.
