“Best spot, best value, wonderful time!”

I stayed in this quaint little piece of ocean-side heaven in January with my English partner, who assured me that this was the standard of bed and breakfasts in Britain. We had a great time, our room had a roaring fireplace and we watched movies on the tv and just curled up in the comfort of our extremely spacious, yet incredibly comfortable room.

The next morning we met in the dining room with the other guests for our complementary breakfast. Again, fireplace going and drizzle outside, we were cozy and happy inside. And our tummies were quite happy, too: coffee, tea, fresh squeezed oj and punch, waffles, english muffins, toast and muffins, fruit and yogurt and cereal and granola! You name it! What a great deal for the price of $89!!

We filled up on food and then took the opportunity to speak to the owners who were very kind. They informed us that other local Inns haven't been doing as well, business-wise, lately and have been attempting to sabotage their little Inn by posting inaccurate No Vacancy signs outside their doors and posting bad reviews on them online. Actually, for this review, there will, no doubt be three bad reviews following it. What a shame, this is the nicest place I've ever stayed in for less than 100 bucks in my life.

We'll definitely be back!

“Nice accommodations for the money”

We had a nice overnight stay at the Wayfarer Inn. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. The Inn is well located in the heart of Carmel Village, and about a 10 minute walk to the beach.
The rooms are pretty basic, and ours was in need of updating and attention. A little worn around the edges. The breakfast is also pretty basic.
We did arrive in the afternoon during wine tasting, so that was a nice touch, and the sitting - dining area is comfortable.
For the price this is a stay that we would repeat.

“Wayfarer Charms”

We had a great stay at The Wayfarer Inn. The managing team was warm and welcoming, and the hotel is centrally located in the heart of Carmel. It's walking distance from the beach, minutes from Monterey, and a few miles from the famous Point Lobos trails. I would definitely stay again. The fireplace kept us cozy and free wine in the afternoon was nice.

“A Good Value in an Upscale Town”

I enjoyed my stay at the Wayfarer. It is in a great location with limited free parking. From the Inn it is an easy walk to town and the beach. From my room I had a partial view of the ocean.
It is a family run operation with a friendly staff. Don't expect anything too fancy for the complimentary breakfast. But there is a "motel style" waffle maker. Also they put out crackers and wine every afternoon for the guests to enjoy. Each room has a gas flame fireplace which makes for a cozy winter night.

Room Tip: The Nelson Market in town had great take out food. Bring it back to your room with a bottle of local...

“Old School charm”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

The Inn is in a perfect location just blocks from Ocean Ave. It is an older property with the charm of a time back in the 50s. A bargin for where it is. Our experience was mixed. We arrived an hour and a half early and decided to check in anyway. As it happened Mike the owner was on duty, he checked the schedule and said he could have our room ready in about 20 miniutes. so we sat in the courtyard and had a bite to eat, very nice. Mike was very helpful in describing some of the places to eat around town. We were here on Christmas eve and day so the town was very quiet compared to the norm. Overall the staff was very helpfull. On the other hand the rooms are in need of much needed repair. Older is nice if kept up. A few other things need to be looked after, we had an ice bucket but no glasses, the breakfst buffet was bare bones, dry cereal, oatmeal, toast, coffee (yuck probbly folgers)and tea. the highlght was the make yourself waffel thank goodness!
Overall a good value if your prepared for some inconsistencies.

Room Tip: if traveling in winter get a fireplace room
